Making a Unique 1.3 Gallon NANO RIPARIUM
I like the first nano riparium so much that I decided to make another! Like I said in the video, the first was intended to be an angled tank like this, but I decided to save it for another build once I got started. Here's a link to that video in case you missed it: • Making a 0.8 Gallon NA...
I really like how this one turned out as well. What do you think? Looking at it now, I think I'm going to add some botanicals. I could have added more plants, but I like the negative space created by the lack of plants in certain areas. However, I think that botanicals will elevate the design, without taking away from that feature.
Believe it or not a lot of plants will work in this type of setting. Just look for things that like soggy/wet soil or grow in or near bodies of water in nature (i.e. marginal plants). Most aquarium plants will also do really well in a setup like this, but you will most likely have to gradually acclimate them to the open air.
As promised, here is the Plant List: Syngonium podophyllum (variegated), Rabbit's Foot Fern, Alternanthera ficoidea, Purple Waffle Plant, Cryptocoryne wendtii 'Bronze', Tillandsia ionantha 'Red', Salvinia Minima, Micromeria brownei, Ludwigia Narrowleaf, Liverwort and Badge Moss
Lastly, I figured it might be useful to share a video on cutting glass. It's really easy to do and something I won't make a video on. However, this is the best one that I could find on it: • How to Cut Glass & Mir...

Another nano riparium?! You know it! I like how this one turned out a lot. Which do you like better, this one or the first?

You should write a book about plants for different set ups. I would buy it in a heart beat.

Did you manage to make one?
My mother has kept classic fresh water fish tanks most of my life. She got an outdoor pound set up for Koi about fifteen years ago. She is getting older, and has arthritis. This makes it hard for her to do the water changes. She's quite good with plants, always has been. I'm looking at this and thinking something like this would be really good for her as she's aging. It would allow her to have an aqua scape but cut out the painful and difficult bits of water changes. Maybe something a bit bigger that has a moving water aspect and could play home to some sort of small shrimpy or something. All that is to say, thank you for the inspiration. I look forward to sharing this video with my mom!

I think that's a great idea! Terrariums could be a good option as well, since you get the same feel, but no water.

Have you ever considered doing a mangrove style build? I live in Florida and I’d love to set up an aquarium that reflects the environment of the mangrove swamps near where I grew up, but I have no idea where to start.

I forgot what type but it was either brittle or lady fern. Some of them look alike.
To people who wanna try: if you're afraid of cutting glass (measuring wrong) you can practice on really thick cardboard (like the ones on the back of good drawing pads). They are as thick as glass and will teach you how to account for the glass width, which is really the only tricky part to measuring.
If you put a nano tank right next to it with a bridge connecting the two tanks, shrimps would be able to venture between the two water bodies and their habitat would become exponentially bigger as you add more tanks with bridges. I have three tanks connected like that at the moment and my shrimps love it. Love your videos and have a great weekend. Greetings from South Africa!

This turned out beautifully, great job Tanner. I always look forward to your videos.
Dude like, I'm so amazed you can make so many different builds snd still have room, money for lightings, time to care for and everything. It's truly amazing, you are Super human.
this is absolutely beautiful, i love nano builds, and the unique shape of the tank is honestly so cool. its something i just never would have thought of doing.
So happy for another video thank you again for everything I have learnt so much from you and have built my own terrarium and got my own isopods basically all thanks to you!
I really liked the use of the little floating plants.
Another amazing project! Nice job man.
Beautiful tank! Catching up on some of your earlier content atm, and loving it, thanks!
Great looking tank! The hardscape looks amazing and very natural, the plants are also looking awesome, I never knew that badge moss could go underwater. Can't wait for the next tank!

That's really pretty. I just finished my first little landscape in a six-liter glass with plants from the forest behind my house, it was fun and it looks great so far, hope everything survives. Thanks for inspiring me to start doing this, this is a great hobby.
This looks amazing! Awesome to see all the different kinds of plants in one place.

Great, I was planning to make a riparian and you helped me choose how I want it to look, thanks
Love your terrarium/Vivarium/riparian builds that you put animals in
Looks so Beauty and natural, as always in your projetcs. Making me feels like I should try to build some terrarium. Keep going! Greetings from Poland :)
Another gorgeous setup, ripped right out of nature. Great work Tanner! I'll need a few more tools before I give this a try. I was totally going to ask you if you would stock it but as usual you're one step ahead.
As always you do amazing work. I love the fact that the tank is hand made. Just gives it a slightly more creative/original feel. I also like that you aren't stocking it. Not ever thing needs animals to make it look natural. Also you are getting really really good at your info delivery in these videos and your inspirational pieces of advice are awesome! I love what this channel has grown and is growing into :) I'll follow you til the day you stop posting.
That looks really great. I have been wondering about the process of attaching glass to itself to get that internal seal to work out, so it's good to see the process and how it all comes together.
Beautiful creation
7:10 looks like a desert tree of some kind growing out from under the rocks, really neat!
You're like my idol bro. Love your channel, love your builds and everything. :)
I can’t wait to build something like this!!

@SerpaDesign I've binge watched a dozen of your videos. I love your work! I am a glazier and I'd like to offer 2 tips minor tips. 1. You are pressing the glass cutter too hard into the glass leaving a much more ragged edge. A light score is all you need. 2. Use 180-220 wet or dry aluminum oxide sand paper to knock down the edge.. one quick pass on each side at a slight angle is all you need. I'll pipe in when I think I can help! Keep it up!! YOUR AWESOME!!
Another awesome build.
Another awesome project. I’m getting ready to redo my paludarium, and like always I refer to your videos for inspiration.
super inspirational! thanks!
