MAKING A TREASURE CHEST FROM PALLET WOOD | ALL WOODEN

My daughter loves to search things, like the eggs at easter or just by playing hide and seek. Therefore i planned a treasure hunt for her birthday party. A treasure hunt needs of course a propper treasure chest. So i taken a few pieces of pallet wood and made a nice looking treasure chest. It's all made from wood except the hinges, the locking part and some Hardware like screws and nails. The inside is covered with self sticking velvet sheets.
I hope you like this treasure chest as much as my daughter.

I would be over the moon if someone made me something like this for my birthday (and I'm in my 40's). Very cool. I hope your daughter has/had a great birthday!! She should definitely love this

First time, I missed the block plane used to chamfer the edges of the sides/ends of the chest. So much love going into this - your daughter will cherish this for years, and hopefully pass it on to her children. Man, you've just made yourself as close to immortal as anyone can. RESPECT!

What a spectacular little treasure chest. I first thought that you were going to have to do a lot of metal work making the bands and edging. Your plan made it very realistic and no welding required. I'm sure she loved it. Well done Dad!!

I love your projects - please keep sharing them! A real down-to-earth craftsman who thinks things through to end up with real-world practical projects that don't need a workshop the size of a football stadium, a budget the size of a Russian Oligarc, and who uses tools rather than machines where he can. I'd love to see a tutorial on how to make this! I'm trying to make a treasure chest like this so that I can make an authentic-looking guide-to-magic and leave it out somewhere for some little kid to stumble upon so that I can inspire them to write me some fantasy books. Yes, I have ulterior motives, but the outcome would be good for everyone involved, and I have not read a SINGLE book from the perspective of a dragon, so something is wrong, and it must be fixed. Rather than writing that book myself (I don't have the energy for it), I am going to craft something so epic that I change someone's life, hopefully luring them into the trap of writing at just the right angle that they find a good way to write a fantasy book and years later write one from the perspective of a dragon, and then I can read it. Much easier.
