Making A Six String Multi Scale Guitar: Making The Body Again
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In this video, I will make another body for my six-string multiscale build after the first body failed to meet my requirements. If you would like to help support my channel and get something cool in return, please consider the following:

Finally started sanding my nitro after 3 weeks. Reluctantly bought the Super Assilex starter kit, $80!?! I was skeptical, but took the chance. Good gravy, that stuff is absolutely *sick*…. as in the good way. Blown away by how efficient and easy to use it is,worth every penny! It’s bizarre how each grade seems to have its own personality, and the dust and scratch patterns are subtly different. Your advice to clean the abrasive sheets and work surface constantly is spot on; I set up outside my garage door with my compressor blower close at hand and just blasted it clear regularly. It’s looking so good I’m almost afraid to touch it anymore, but I’m preparing to start buffing and polishing over the weekend. Might be soldering the electronics in the foreseeable future! Thank you Chris for all your videos that have helped me so often along the way.
Excellent work. Thumbs up.
Thanks so much for sharing your mistake. It’s comforting to know it can happen to anyone
5:20 you're right about hardness and the specific tree, there are so many variables old growth vs new, the seasons, and the post processing also plays a huge roll.
Good video
Super valuable series of vids (especially for someone like me who makes a lot of mistakes). Question on the neck pocket now that you've moved to set neck...I build mostly set neck guitars, and I was taught to build in a "neck pocket extension block", leaving some excess of the body blank running up the sides of the neck, which helps keep the neck in line and offers some extra support and maybe a touch of gluing surface. It seems to make the glueup process a lot more foolproof. The downside is having to carve out the heel once the neck is attached and blending the sides of the neck into the body, which is a little laborious and terrifying if you mess up (imagine dinging your fretwork with a heavy coarse rasp). It also prevents me from applying finish before the neck and body are joined, which can make doing separate neck and body finishes cumbersome. It looks like the CNC eliminates the need for that method, but do you think a reliable series of templates is enough to achieve the same result?
Been there, done that...😫😫😫
I'll take that body! I feel that the tear out is actually a good thing for a magnetic cover for a thumb recess. Additionally -the cavity can be reinforced with mdf or even some sort of cheap wood.

I thought about that as well. However, I can't sell a guitar with cheesy fixes.
Sorry for being late. I am in the hospital and was going through some treatments.

I missed the premier as well. Family matters.
Aaawww. I was gonna ask for that blank to hang on my shop wall. Better serves your wall of failures for sure
Can you give some advise on choosing cad/cam software and some learning resources?

I use Rhino 3D for CAD and MeshCAM for CAM. I watched countless videos and taught myself through trial and error how to do the work.
Chris, this is off topic. What type of spray gun and compressor do you use?
