Making a Shopvac & Cyclone Cart - 185

Subscribe for new videos every week. For most of us there is always a constant battle to reduce wasted shop floor space. To me that's one piece of motivation for getting this project done. I've got a 12 gallon shopvac hooked up to a cyclone dust separator and moving them around the shop together is a pain in the butt. That's motivating factor #2. I've also got a bunch of hoses and accessories taking up floor space in a separate box on the shop floor. More motivation.

Bought your plans and built it over the weekend after my cyclone got here Friday. SO glad you had the plans available. I should have read them 3 or 4 more times before starting construction, but muddled on through to something sorta resembling this build. Thanks Jay! Looks great and works great and much more stable than I thought it would be.

I have a cart close to the blue one you had and I think I am going to attach it to the vac stand and just put something on the front to even it out so I can move it around with the cart. It will work well with cleaning out the car and truck as well as other things.

Really nice especially for improvised construction. I’ve been thinking stacked vertical too. Your hanger struts solved a problem for me. One thought: I’m trying to work out a solid PVC pipe connection between the cyclone and the shop vac. Just to cut down on airflow loss. Probably cleaner with vac up top and cyclone below, but then there’s a potential balance problem. Thanks!

Great video. I've seen the RV sewer line at walmart and thought that it would make a good substitute for the shopvac hoses because its super long and cheap. I made a cart a couple of years ago for the shopvac and cyclone at work and haven't been happy with it. It is a side by side and I reused the casters off the shop vac. The whole combo is cumbersome and takes up too much room. Definitely gonna stack the new cart I'm building for my garage shop. Thanks Jay.

Most importantly - compact Very correct decision, placed vertically, but not in width Which saves space in the workshop. ----------------------------------------------- Самое главное - компактно Очень правильное решение, расположить вертикально, но не в ширину Что позволяет экономить пространство в мастерской.

Oh, the third dimension! I never thought about stacking. I've a self build cyclone (still surprised how well it works) and was thinking about building a cart (if I had the time in the last month it would have already built it, I guess). But now I'll go back to the drawing board (or sketchup for that matter). My shop (which is actually a room in the basement) is much more cramped and space is at a premium there.

Excellent cart. I need to decide whether I want to go vertical like you did to save space or just toss my vac. It's a 4 year old Harbor Freight with a separator on a cart. They sit next to each other and work great. But now I have the Festool and the dust collector so I think I am in dust collector tool overkill :-) But it is just have to toss it. I might just do what you did and keep it to clean up the floor of the shop. Great idea for a cart. Thanks.

That came out really nice. Any shop will benefit from a space saver like this too. Not just small ones. 😊

I used lawnmower wheels on my table saw workstation. They worked great because they can handle the weight and have a much larger diameter. They are also really cheap!

Thanks Jay! I am seriously thinking of not putting them back on my neighbour's lawn mower. It has been real quiet around here lately. lol
