Making a PVC Halloween Fence
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
After a recent visit to New Orleans, and a cemetery tour, I decided that the family crypt build wasn't quite finished. It needed one more detail - a fence! So in this video, I'll be taking it back to basics and will build a haunt fence from PVC pipe and wood planks.

Noted!
I think you have discovered the mass produced rusting technique that I needed.
You have taught me so much for my porch haunt since we don’t have a yard to do a haunt in my porch is turning out so great better then the neighboring houses around us. Please keep up your tutorials, I love how everything your videos have in them are well explained and materials are accessible to most and affordable too, your awesome thank you so much
I just gotta say, you’re hands down my favorite DIY prop maker. Your videos are very well done, high quality, and very informative. And your props all look fantastic!

Thank you so much! I really appreciate that.
I have always wanted to have bars on my windows. Not for security but for how cool it looks. Now I can, thank you. 😊
GREAT!!
Great build! It inspires me to get around to the fence I've been blowing off for years. BTW, if one has access to a table saw and the time, ripping your own 1x2 furring strips out of wider boards can yield a far better product than precut pieces.
That really looks like a wrought iron fence!
oh, plastic finials... hmmmmmm (thanks for posting the website) we have a nice fence we made by reworking some wooden garden fencing but it might be time for an upgrade
That turned out fantastic!!!
If you want to make any quantity of fence a drill press is essential and taking the time to make a jig is even better. Pre drill everything! Great video

Wonderful addition to your haunt. Great that it can store flat.
Those finials really bump up the production value, looks fantastic. The corners are brilliant, so practical. Your builds never cease to amaze me, excellent ideas and work. I'm hoping to do something this like atop a very low foam faux capped brick wall. We have a very shallow front yard, just long enough to "bury" our dead, and this will help it look so much more realistic. Thanks for another great video.
3D printer...damn! Looks awesome!!
I definitely going to try this for next year
Awesomeness once again! Absolutely love the printed finials and corners!🤘

Awesome. I use a nail gun with Brad nails to secure my pipes. 3d printing will totally change how we build stuff!! Looks awesome
The finials look so authentic! Great design on those, and the corner pieces are so nice as well! Great addition to the crypt!
I'm blown away by how easy you make everything look
Great job Derek!
Hello from New Orleans. Happy you found some inspiration here. Thanks for sharing your experience and creations with us.
Love the corner pieces for easy breakdown/storage. Will be stealing that idea! :)
I wouldn't mind seeing you dressing it up. 🙂
Always A Pleasure!!!! Love The Tutorials!!!!! Thank You So Much For All The Great Ideas & Info!!!! 😁👍😎🧡🖤🤘
That fence looks fantastic, creepy and realistic. Thank you so much for sharing 🎃💀🦇🪦
Very impressed by how much realism those finials lend. The corner brackets are really clever.
Very realistic Derek!
awesome work man. Looks amazing!
As always, You da man!!!
Great job, especially with the fine details. I do not have a 3D printer, but I am sure there are other possibilities available to make the finials and connectors. Thanks for sharing your awesome inspiration.

Again, great build... I like how well the fence came together and you were able to quickly make the texture and color... That's usually the hard part. It really adds that extra level of detail/reality that maybe you don't notice if it's not there, but sells it when it is there. And now you can't imagine it without it being there! For my own curiosity, not a suggestion: The concept of these fences in the cemetery, I thought the fence would surround the whole crypt? And maybe not...

You’d think, but because space it limited in New Orleans they only wrap the front on most of them.
Awesome idea!!! ❤
Awesome build to go along with the Awesome crypt. I love your videos and all the great projects you and Mrs VanOaks make. ❤
Anther great video, Derek! I’m interested it learning about your planning and concept phase of your builds after watching this series. Would you mind showing us concept sketches, materials selection/shopping for materials on a future build?
Ughh. If only I had more time. Definitely doing this next year. I am going to do an entire walkway fence with this technique. Thank you for sharing your brain trust.
Incredible!
I absolutely love this! Great job
you have an amazing mind to come up with these ideals. Love them all
Another fabulous quick and simple Halloween project from the mind of Derek!
Very clever on the finials and corners. Looks awesome. 🪦⚰
You crushed this Derek! I love the metal texture. I’m totally trying that paint/water technique soon!
I like the finial reference you got! My dad and I made a Dracula tombstone based on the ones from CastleVania 2 Simon's Quest and Super CastleVania 4. The lettering for Dracula's name was based on some used on monuments in Romania for the real Vlad Tepes Dracula. I also purchased a portrait of Vlad from a person who lives in Romania. It turned out pretty cool!
Dropped by your haunt today (we live in Woodland Hills) !! I promise we are NOT stalkers, just HUGE fans of your amazing talent. It was wonderful to see it in person and I took a few pics for inspiration too. Just beautiful work.

I saw your IG post and was wondering where the corner brackets came from. I really need to buy a 3D printer.

As always...Amazing tutorial. I have incorporated many of your techniques into my builds. Any inexpensive finial suggestions for those of us who don't have 3D printers?

I am thinking of making a fence just like this! But what can I do when my lawn is sloped/on a hill?
@VanOaksProps
Жыл бұрын
Pound some rebar into the ground to help stabilize, and then you'll have to determine the angle of your slope to make some kind of joint to connect the front to the side.
I've always wondered, would a spade drill bit work the same as a forstner bit?

Yes it would.
I just "finished" my second cemetery haunt fence and my finial tops (old halloween whistles) are showing their age. Do you have a ballpark feeling of how much it cost to 3D print your finials?

You would happen to be selling the 3D model for these would you? And if so do you only have corner joining pieces? Not looking to do this for a crypt but to enclose my front yard and some landscaping, about 200 feet in total with a few different angles, 45, 90 and 180. Also what was you spacing between the tall and short posts?
@VanOaksProps

I am. Check out my etsy shop vanoaksprops.etsy.com. The spacing is 3" between tall/short posts.

What do you recommend for a 3d printer for a newbie that wants to buy one without upgrading 50 times?. Kinda "future proof" for a while.

Prusa i3 Mk3+. It’s a bit more than others and you have to assemble it yourself, but it’s the best printer I’ve ever used and is extremely consistent with minimal upkeep.
