Well I just tried it finally. It didn't turn out so great, the great stuff, I used the regular since it was what I had on hand, a punchball balloon, and an old top sheet for the fabric. The problem was that the great stuff stuck to the sheet and I don't think I used enough great stuff because it was really thin at the top and tore.
Wow that was fantastic I will be doing that this Halloween. Question I live in Arizona and in October it is still 90 with a lot of sun shine so what can I use to protect my pumpkin from UV.?
This is awesome ! I am going to use the great stuff to make creepy trees for a Halloween display at work. In competition with other teams. Wish us luck cause I have never done this before! EEK!!!

Great process! Always enjoy the how to videos, and glad to see KZread Wednesday is back! Question... is the fabric on the inside necessary? Wondering if it could be eliminated to make them able to be carved easier when done.
@StiltbeastStudios
9 жыл бұрын
Tayman Graveyard Haunted Theme Park Yes, it is necessary. the interior fabric allows you to apply moisture to both sides so the foam cures faster. The fabric also helps hold the pumpkin together when the creases go deep on the pumpkin. iit will not stand up to a sharp blade though so they are still carve-able.
I love your projects. I was wondering with this project could you deflate the ball and carve a face into it? If so, at what stage of the curring would you do that. Im trying to make a corn scarecrow and paper mache would be more difficult.
@StiltbeastStudios
3 жыл бұрын
Hey Cory, yes you can remove the ball (easier if you carve it) and do your carving last- I accentuate the carving with a bit of sculpted detail with locktite foam.
This was interesting and unexpected. Thanks!

I Was wondering if you could use plastic misted with water in the place of the fabric. Since the GS doesn't adhere to the plastic, getting the outer coat off would be easier. Also, can you recover the innerds of the pumpkin or is a beach ball just gonna be part of the cost of doing haunting?
@StiltbeastStudios
8 жыл бұрын
+Curtis Kwasniewski You need the fabric because it holds moisture in, the plastic would just be a bit wet but not enough to fuel the chemical change. If you are careful you can pull the beach ball out of the bottom after you deflate it.
I tried a version of this with a regular balloon and contractors garbage bag and it did pretty well, just LOTS of wrinkles.Tried again with a smaller plastic grocery bag, plus balloon still pretty good. (Definitely mist everything with water) In efforts to make them look consistent, I'm trying to do this now with a plastic candy bucket pumpkin as a mold. I'm running into issues where I don't get a smooth finish. In the video yours is relatively smooth except for the top, is there a reason why I'm not getting that in the hard mold? There is plenty of pressure, on the first try with the hard mold I busted the mold and still got all the uneven bits. Any suggestions?
@StiltbeastStudios
5 жыл бұрын
Not really, great stuff is pretty uneven in its expansion, it also does not do well in a mold. Why not use the fabric? that works well as it gives consistent moisture to the foam as it cures.
If you had to fill air holes in the surface to smooth it out, what would you recommend?
@StiltbeastStudios
6 жыл бұрын
bondo
Could you do this but with balloons on the inside (to make them smaller) and only "wrap" the outside layer?
@StiltbeastStudios
2 жыл бұрын
maybe...yes for balloons, maybe on the no fabric inside. the foam needs moisture to cure without exposure to air, so the fabric is a means of holding moisture inside for the foam to use. thinner than 3/4" you should be fine, but thats tough to manage.
Very creative
