Making a Nano Paludarium for Vampire Crabs! 🧛‍♂️🦀

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Vampire crabs are a novelty little critter, at least for me! I find them so cute and I really would like to have an ecosystem to grow them in! So I couldn;t pass on the opportunity of acquiring some crabs, but things did not go very smooth.. I'm working on it! :)

Those crabs are so beautiful and vibrant! I've been binging IndoorEcosystem videos to learn as much as I can about the vampire crabs. Glad I stumbled across your video!

There are 2 species, the red crab is Geosesarma Hagen (red devil) and the rainbow is Lepidothelphusa sp blue. The Lepidothelphusa requires more water than the Geosesarma. You have a great channel KZread called Indoor Ecosystem which talks about maintaining different species of crabs. For a temporary paludarium, it's very good !

Oh I know, that is great more fish are tank bred now! I am slowly slowly saving for a nano reef too! I used to have one 15 years ago, but didn't get to enjoy it as I had to move. So I'm excited for a nano with clown fish, they are all tank bred now! The designer ones are so cool, didn't know about them back then ☺️

Great, honest video! ☺This tank is really nice and will grow in beautifully over the coming months. Thanks for taking the time to explain the species differences as well a lot of people make this mistake early on and get mixed coloured crabs usually from bad shop advice. Hopefully you're lucky enough for them to be peaceful while you get the big tank set up 🤞

Oh, btw! I don't know if you've ever given that a shot, but I just start springtail cultures myself by making a covered bowl of potting soil and overwatering it for a few weeks. It usually has a few eggs in it naturally. Theres a decent chance that springtails will turn up on their own in that moist enclosure in time.

Yea I actually started to see a few of them in the paludariums, they must have been in the soil or on the plants 😁

such a great idea to try and breed them to help cut down on the numbers being caught in the wild. They sure are cute and your setup for them is beautiful.

I haven’t kept them myself but when I was looking up advice for setting up a vivarium I came across a guy breeding them they are cannibalistic with the babies so you would have to separate the parents

Sadly no, I donated her just a month ago. I really suck at non planted tank chemistry still, so I felt I didn't give her a decent home. It was surprisingly hard to maintain her tank up to standards and I wasn't expecting that 😔
