Making a Master Sword from leather with the newly redesigned Weaver CUB Sewing Machine
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
The Weaver CUB Sewing Machine has been around for a few years now, I've even got one of the originals in my workshop. Weaver Leather is always working to improve their tools and equipment and the Weaver CUB is no exception. They have completely redesigned the CUB and have improved its dependability in the process. It now features a Cast Aluminum frame, an upgraded take up lever and spring, an adjuster for presser foot pressure, and an extra hole in the handwheel that now makes it a two-speed machine.
Since I already own an original Weaver CUB and have a lot of experience with it, Weaver Leather sent me this prototype of the new version to test out. I unboxed it, gave it a quick once over, and then put it right to work. For a simple test, I decided to make a leather Master Sword for my 10-year old son. He's a huge fan of the Legend of Zelda and a leather Master Sword was high on his list of wants.

Full disclosure, Weaver Leather did send this machine to me so that I could test it out and provide them with feedback. My feedback to them, and in this video, is 100% accurate and is not influenced by the fact they sent this machine. I have worked with Waver Leather for several years now and have found that they are fiercely proud of their products and are always looking for ways to improve them. Because of this, they readily accept feedback and make efforts to incorporate good ideas into their future designs and manufacturing.

How come? I am trying to decide between the two and am thinking ii would prefer the crank over the wheel
Hi, can this also be used for normal DENIM use? I see the needle is super thick and wasnt sure if this is an ONLY leather machine?

It could be used with denim but it is serious overkill for that use.

According to their specs it cannot handle thread that small. 92 is the smallest thread they recommend
Attaching a motor to it. DC motors are very strong. To bad I'm so old, I'd buy one and mount a dc motor. Thanks for the demo. How much is it ?

They are 2 grand. You’re better off spending a little more for one made for a motor
What is the minimum oz it will sew?

You could stitch 3/4 oz leather with it as long as you are using the right size needles and thread. It’s a pretty versatile machine
Can I put a treadle on it?

Possibly but I believe that would be more trouble than it would be worth
