Making A Leather Zippo Case
A customer sent in their new Zippo and we made a nice wet molded leather case for it. Wet molding something so small can be a little bit hard, but with some practice it goes fairly quickly! This zippo case is a classic leather crafting project that makes a great gift, and you can add belt loops or bag clips to the back as well if you'd like! We hand stitch these cases with a saddle stitch for even more strength.

    The only additions I'm going to add when I make this is: 1) belt loops to be able to wear 2) cutouts on the bottom, maybe in the corners or move the closure to center the cutout, to push the lighter up, sometimes my grip fails me and pushing it up would help getting it out. Keep up the good work.

    A trick I do to form leather is use one of those small vacuum seal bags that are made for pillows or clothes. You can get them cheap from dollar general, use a wet/dry vacuum, and gives you perfect forms

    Such a cool design! Im currently searching for leather which I can use for making wallets and cases etc.. I really like the way veg tan leather can be burnished but also like the slimness of wallets. Do you think that 1.0 - 1.3mm (2,5 - 3oz) thick veg tan leather can be burnished well?

    Are you just supposed to carry it in your pocket? It seems like that kind of negates the slim design of the lighter. Also, won't the rough side of the leather remove the paint on the lighter?

  • @Corter

    @Corter

    4 жыл бұрын

    This one's just to put in my bag, since I don't use a lighter much at all I don't carry it in my pocket - you could 100% put a belt loop on this design if you'd like to use it that way! the back of the leather is nice and soft, not rough at all
