I was messing around with a piece of scrap leather earlier today and decided to try my hand at installing a zipper, then folding it over and making a small leather pouch. It came out really well and garnered tons of praise. Then I see Ryan install a zipper and. . . step by step, realize every mistake I made along the way.

I think adding some sort of fabric on the inside to cover up the stitches would have have made it a tad more deluxe but the end result looks fantastic either way.

i was thinking the exact same thing. like taking the same leather on the outside and just sticking it on the inside of the flap would give it a lot more of a "nicer" look. if thats possible with something this elegant

Love all the videos - I have been working by hand now and really have been enjoying the leathercraft but I want to take it to a more professional space. I'm looking at buying a Cowboy Outlaw and the Osborne 86A. What do you think about this as my first big purchase for a sewing machine, and I like the 86A as it seems to not just split, but also skive with consistency. Maybe better to get electric machines for sewing, splitting, and skiving? Thank's in advance from Vancouver!
