I've been told, and I sometimes believe, that woodworking is just advanced box-making... I love making boxes. I've seen quite a few YT videos too. Yours (both box and video) are a winner. It shows the beauty of a simple process. A quick/easy design criteria and you go on from there. It didn't seem like a typical "voice-over" either. It's like you were right there doing as I was watching. And the result is marvelous. Thanx for posting it!

I liked the simple yet clever joints made on the table saw that precluded the use of fasteners to hold the box together. It made for a nice clean and asthmatically pleasant finish. Also, he didn't destroy the whole of whole look and final finish by coating everything with a dark stain like so many other woodworkers do.

Beautiful box and great video presentation. Your video brought back nice memories for me. I always loved little boxes crafted from wood and more than once asked my Dad to make one for me, which he always did. It was many years ago, but it's nice to see some things never change when a girl has a loving father.

This box looks fantastic. You did a great job with it. However, I cringed when I saw you using the table saw with no riving knife or splitter. I've had kickback before (still have a nasty scar from it) so I'm very conscious of always using a riving knife. Thankfully you didn't have any kickback (or at least if you did you didn't show it :) ).

  • @DaveHarshberger

Thanks! I've been using this saw for 15 years with only one kickback incident (really stupid move with a dado stack). That said, I understand the concern and have recently bought a Micro-Jig splitter. Will install it soon.
