Making A Wooden Jewelry Box // Woodworking
Фильм және анимация
I made a wooden jewelry box with a carved lid as a commission. This piece is a gift to celebrate a fifth wedding anniversary. The only requests from the client were to have a drawer and a small section for a watch. The main box is made from Swiss Pear. The removable watch box is made from English Sycamore.

Ok my favorite parts: chiseling and that little itty piece of wood being inserted in. Whoooo. That satisfying feeling.

It’s just as satisfying to make as to watch 😎
Beautiful work again Erik. I'll bring you a #2 Phillips if I ever get to your shop. Made me cringe stripping that brass screw on the final detail lol. Cheers
Thank you tik tok to made it possible to find this channel. These sounds are precious!
Nothing not to adore about this. The timber, the skills, the aesthetic - and the video quality
I love this video. The craftsmanship and skill is so far beyond where I am and probably where I will get to. The simplicity of the lack of voiceover…, thank you.
Since discovering your channel I have learnt a lot, but probably the most important lesson I have taken from you is twofold . . . take your time and think about each “phase” of the operation. It’s taken me far too many years to realise that creating something beautiful doesn’t happen overnight, but being thoughtful, careful and patient will get you there in the end. Thanks, Erik, you have helped this old timer to enjoy his woodwork much more than you will ever know.

That made me smile my guy. I appreciate that feedback!
While I love your usual commentary, this was a pleasing way of changing things up and allowing us a hyper focus on the sights and sounds of a true artist at work. Keep up the great content!

Thank you!
The sounds of the band saw, router and table saw brought back memories of making sawdust with my dad. He didn't have a planer or jointer but somehow made everything fit. I acquired some of his tools when he passed. Thank you for bringing back the sounds and smells of his shop.
Beautiful box Eric without being over the top. Thank you for the video.👍👍
Great build. Simplicity with elegance. Also, I can't understand how someone gave this build a "ThumbsDown."
Exquisite work! Swiss Pear and English Sycamore, I was clueless so I googled them...exotic hardwoods. I especially like the whiteness of the English Sycamore and the brass pins. Lovely gift to give and receive!

Thank you! Yes I really love how pale the Sycamore remained. Contrasts beautifully with the warm tones of the pear!
I really like the carved tops on your box designs. I’m gonna do one along those lines pretty soon. Awesome videos all around
Just wow
Beautiful. Love it. This is exactly the kind of work I want to be able to do one day. Thanks for sharing
Great piece! I especially like the half lap on the lid matching the height of the sides. A nice touch

Beautiful work, and I think this is the best video I've seen or yours, Eric. (I'm a subscriber!) The sound track (just the sounds of woodworking) was perfect, as was the camera work. Very interested to see you you carved the top with power rasps. Thanks!
Truly amazing...
Very nice. Love the details.
Beautiful work (the box and the video). Very soothing to watch.
Loving the wave effect on the top of the box, I am playing around with texture effects at the moment, great inspirational content - thanks 🙏
Wow great work on the box and that was an amazing video to watch.

Потрясающая работа мой друг!
I just had to watch you one more time.
When I first saw this pop-up on my feed as a tiny thumbnail of the sculptured top, I though "Ooo Bacon" (I follow a couple of channels where they smoke meat), turned out that your video is even more succulent than bacon (question to self; "how is wood "succulent"?... asking for a fiend )
Gorgeous work. I’ve been loving your videos and they’ve been inspiring me to make more, and to have more fun in my garage workshop. I have question on this project: was the larger box itself all made from those first two boards? 4/4 or 6/4 resawn to half the thickness to get the long sides, too and bottom out of the larger board, and the ends from the smaller board? (I’m about to start making small boxes from 4/4 and 6/4 hardwood, and trying to figure out if I can make a whole box from as little wood as you showed at the start).

I’m new to woodworking what’s the name of the tool you used to get the box lid top detailing?
