I really didn't think it was possible to make OSB look beautiful, but I was proven wrong! You did an amazing job. Well done! 👏 Oh and the last panel was glued in upside down 😅

Thanks so much I really love the technique I want to try if again sometime possibly as doors on a drinks cabinet. I really wanted to make the ordinary extraordinary. Yes what a cool that panel was upside down but it’s against the wall so you can’t see it. Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave a fabulous comment

the mirka sanding discs are excellent, well worth the extra cost than sandpaper

Love it, but the mistake was the last piece was upside down, so all the holes were different height to the rest. Call it a design feature and put it at the front, so all lights shining on walls near the lamp will be the same height.

I would not have expected you'd be able to make OSB attractive, but from the time that you sanded the black paint, it was apparent. Great work!

Particle board can be equally amazing with enough sanding, polishing and the right finish! but I think for most people these boards are seen as construction grade mass produced crap that is only to be used as subfloors and wall sheaths and covered by a finish layer. Some people hate the look of construction lumber like spruce in fine furniture but I think when it is sanded and polished to a high sheen it is a very attractive wood and can be similar to maple. There is beauty in most low grade materials but you have to dig deep and work hard to bring it out

  • @SteveBellCreates

Thanks and I totally agree with you there is beauty to be had in what some people feel are low grade materials. For me it makes it even more satisfying to make those materials beautiful

Wow - this is genius, Steve. The osb has real depth with the colours you've applied and looks absolutely 'luxourus'. The side with the holes at a different level is a happy accident, as Bob Ross would say. Nice one 👍

Very Nice... the look of depth on the osb from the black paint and wood dye is luxurious. And spotted the error as you were gluing up... but that bit is now against the wall so no one will ever know 😉

I’ve got to be honest Steve. When I heard on the podcast that you were making a lamp from OSB with green paint, I thought to myself «can that really look good?». But man I’m blown away! It looks great, and the depth you got with the different layers of paint is really cool! Well done! 👏🏼

Neat! But I think you have to experience is in the flesh to feel the finish, because it looks like you would get a splinter for just being in the same room! 😅

@@SteveBellCreates Yea, but you gave it such depth with the black colour (can totally relate to spraying to much) that it looks really mean and splintery. You need to touch it to experience all of its glory!
