    can you do a video explaining post processing on your guitars? like how you make several guitars at the same time sounding huge without tearing apart your mix? that would be very helpful

    Yeah I’ll try to make a video on it soon! It’s not something I ever really intend to do but it’s just out of necessity if I feel like I can’t get a sound I’m going for without using 2 amps or whatever. It can massively enhance a mix but also complicates everything haha. You have to be careful with EQ, and using multiple distortions can mean they start interfering with each other. A lot of it is pure trial and error

    for the shoegaze artists you asked for: i got an artists that mixes shoegaze and trip-hop with its huge guitar drones, distinct bass and and samples breakbeats the artists is: Bowery Electric and their 90s albums "Beat" and their first album

    Dude I love the way you make music, I wanna do a combo of trap and shoegaze with a heavier shoegaze influence. I wanna add an 808 in place of the really low notes, like the range of the lowest string of a 5 string bass, and on my 4 string bass that I physically play, I want to distort it like a low range of a 7 string. And I want to use my 6 string guitar and tweak the tunings to make them sound heavier. I can’t buy explosive gear so I gotta get creative, and this video was extremely helpful.

  • @matthaberek

    Hey I like the way you wrote this. I think it’s really interesting that your wrote the lead/melody before writing the rhythm guitar parts. Not sure why that idea never crossed my mine. I’ve Always written rhythm guitar parts first and lead guitar after. I think this method your using sparks more creativity and ideas! Also I agree about doing drums the way you want and ignoring drummers who said it isn’t real. And that’s not to discredit any great drummers. I think a good drummer would hear it and instead think that beat is impossible to do in real life but I’m gonna try to find a way to somehow replicate it live. You know like get inspired by it instead of saying it’s not real. I love this track and others you’ve made. Do you have any videos about deftones loathe vocal type settings ? Keep up the great work

    This is awesome and exactly what I hope to start making sometime soon! Why do you track left and right separately? I am super new to recording and using daws

  • @RichiiWainwright

    @RichiiWainwright

    5 ай бұрын

    Thank you! Reason for tracking L+R separately is basically so it sounds 'bigger'. If I just had one recording that I put on both the left and right, it would just sound like one guitar, because it's an identical recording on each side. If I track it twice, there will always be some tiny little nuances that tell your ear there are two guitars playing, and they make it sound wider, bigger, fuller. Almost all bands double track or even quad+ track! Personally I usually just double as I feel going further can make things get a little messy and unnatural sounding

  • @35mmonica
    @35mmonica9 ай бұрын

    hi awesome video man, the synthy guitar effect was sick. was wondering with your guitar doubles, i noticed you had 3 L/R channels. are you using a different amp on each copy and pasted guitar track with L1-3 and R1-3, respectively?

  • @RichiiWainwright

    @RichiiWainwright

    9 ай бұрын

    Thank you! And yes, exactly. I always aim to keep things minimal, but sometimes it's easier to get a certain sound by just using 2/3 amps and processing chains (I'm using the same things on the left and right here, just panning them differently). I needed that power from a crunchy midrange amp (L+R 1), and then the harsh metal distortion of the 2+3 tracks, pretty sure I went into a little more detail on that in my previous 'making a Deftones track' video!
