if you mordant your fabric in pomegranate first it will make your turmeric colourfast.🧡⭐ also anything that is botanically dyed I recommend drying inside out in the shade, my favourite thing to dye with is brown onion skin.

Omg I just GASPED when you said my name. I feel like Beyonce lol. ALSO if you do the Magic Pants in the thicker canvas, they’ll fit tighter so if the XS seems a little big, the thicker canvas will help them tighten up. Can’t WAIT! You’re awesome!

Cherry blossom branches! It dyes the fabric pink! I am hoping to trying them out this spring -from the northern hemisphere

For your collar issue, I would suggest doing the collar first and then the front facing. This will give that nice corner without having to open up your collar seams.

Love watching your process! I had the same discovery years ago when visiting my grandmother in Palau (South Pacific - Micronesia). Turmeric was grown all around the house for cooking and medicine as well as specifically making turmeric oil with coconut oil. I grated the fresh root and grabbed a few random items I had with me such as cotton bra , undies and socks to dye. They became a beautiful turmeric yellow. Then I decided to use Tide laundry powder to wash / rinse. They became an almost burgundy rust / red dirt color. Still beautiful but unexpected at the time.

The turmeric dye worked beautifully! The jacket turned out so great; so colourful and fun. I love hearing about your plans for different fabrics and existing articles of clothing; your enthusiasm is really inspiring. Hey Carly, cool video. I love natural dying. I have a bunch of lichens growing on my property, and I want to dye a white sheet with them. Your jacket is great!! If it fades, you can always re-dye it in hopes that the contrast remains. Keep sharing, your creativity feeds my creativity!! 🎉

Lichen is a moss that grows here in California. It is a dusty green color, and depending on the type harvested, the color can be different shades of gold and some purples. If you google it, there are charts to see the results.

The jacket turned out so great! Curious to see how the colour fades 💛

Those dyed colors came out amazing! So beautiful. I'm about to try dying some drab and faded bras that I have with beet juice. 🤞🤞🤞And that hem split technique is amazing - that's a game changer. Can't wait to try it!

Beet juice is a "Fugitive dye". it looks so pretty going down the drain. Cannot fix the dye with mordant. At best, you may achieve a weak & faded off-white/ish yellow. Heartbreaker.
