    Great idea Donny. It should work just fine for the little weekend camping trips. You don't need to be in full-on bushcraft mode every time you want to just do a little camp trip. It is just nice to have an inexpensive alternative. Thank you my friend.

    Great tips, I was looking for hot welding tarps and your video kept being recommended. So I caved in, so glad. You’ve saved a lot of people’s time, $, and frustration in dealing with Nature’s forces.

    I'm Homeless and got caught in a heavy rain storm!! I was under tree brush in a tight space last night! (GOTTA STAY HIDDEN & CONCEALED) I had one of those 4ft×6ft blue taps (They are not Waterproof) no matter what's on the label. I Thought about this Strategy, and said I wonder if I could construct a 8×8 or 10×10 Rain tarp/Plastic cover out of these Big Garbage bags? Imma try it and use techniques from this video. Its just for those Rainy nights to keep me and my belongings dry.

    Cheap poly tarps fabric is light weight, mighty strong and durable in its own. Tearing always happens at the stress point between tarp and mallet. Easy piecy solution is to evenly put in more mallet points and make sure to use them with evenly distributed rope tensions. Leaving ropes able to loop freely to distribute all over automatically, can make that tarp last for many years. I found flexy rubber ropes not being much good as they degrade fast when put at tension over time, plus they do not slide well. Adding a few strategically placed weights instead, then works better (diagonal lines to ground spikes are perfect for gravity spots). Windshield wiper fluid jugs are my favorite. Free as garbage at any gasoline station, lightweight when empty, very compactible for storage/transport, packs just the right weight with up to 1gal/4-5 liter worth of water and flexi enough to survive water repeatedly freezing. Boat shop mooring departments has some nice stainless steel rings usually in sizes of 30-40 mm ring diameter/5-6mm material diameter, that gives nice rope sliding points. Rope to rope does not slide well and wears fast. Any style rounded and smooth material steel/stainless carabiners/shackles, will also do just fine. Learn some basic rope and pulley principles, everydays aero dynamics and go creative.

    Another off the wall idea. I used a coupon and bought 2 of these tarps. I then took some 3M spray adhesive and glued the 2 tarps together. This made 1 thick tarp. I used all the grommets to attach to a coral panel to make a wind break for my stock. (I didn't get the grommets lined up very well.) I only put this together 2 days ago, so I'm not sure how it will hold up. This is Wyoming, in the winter we get days of 60mph + winds. If this does hold up through the winter, I'll try adding grommets to customize it.

  • @stephenqueen6211

    @stephenqueen6211

    2 жыл бұрын

    I thought I would follow up on this just in case someone else decided to try it. The spray adhesive dried out in the winter weather and the two tarps separated, and then blew to pieces. This summer to make a wind break for my garden I used grommets to hold a single tarp to a corral panel. I folded the tarp such that there was no overhang on the panels. I used the grommets to hold the folds in place and to wire the tarps on to the panels. I did this on 6 panels. 2 of the tarps failed. It appeared that they failed because the wind was blowing in such a direction that it was pushing the tarps away from the panels. Even on the tarps that didn't totally fail, some of the grommets pulled loose.

    hi i got a tarp that keeps shedding that poly material. ITs liek its snowing or something. ITs makes a mess on my patio i thought of buying a shade tarp to extend the life of the first one. maybe even paint it. I tire of going to the roof and having to fix those them things. You got any suggestions to avoid devay due to sun exposure ?

    We in the sign making profession are keenly aware of UV degradation. You could purchase a new tarp and try some u.v. inhibitive topcoat. That can have it's own set of problems. I can understand and appreciate your situation. Good luck. Take care.

    Demonstrates 'banner ups'...fails to include price per unit. Banner ups will break the bank. Even just providing a range...."should cost between $x.xx and $x.xx each. "Well, if I do that...I cannot sell them for $20 each to someone who doesn't know any better. We all know as long as the customer is happy...charge them as much as possible."

    @@DonnyPavoliniOutdoors i don't even sell Banner Ups. Or anything banner related. What i do sell are auto parts...and I don't make money on hardly any of them. I thought if i priced like walmart...and beat everyone...the volume would make up for the lack of margin. i was wrong. Where everyone else on the planet charges $20+ for a WPT-931..I charge $7. Yes it's a genuine part. And I still get complaints. i suppose I will until I give everything away for $0.
