@Corporals Corner... how long does the mineral spirit have a waterproof effect? What it's flammability after that.. is linseed really better? And I hear never do that in the heat of summer as it can self ignite. Thanks for taking the time to do all that we need to learn.

@Corporals Corner This's the 1st time I ever saw you start off to in a barn like structure & wondering if you built that too? Kudos if so! Any price lists you could tack on for the canvas tarp & other things? I know the spray bottle can run from maybe a bit over 2 to maybe 6.00$ ( higher price courtesy of a place like Aubuchon's) but no idea the rest.
Hey Corporal, don't let KZreads BS get to you. You're doing a great service offering free survival education and advice. Keep doing what you're doing. It'll all work in the end.

Keep them coming Shawn. Screw censorship and filtering. Offer a class on the skills you show on here. I’ll happily attend and advertise the event.
Please don’t give up on your videos. I am a 73-yr old grandmother who LOVES your videos, and I learn from you every time I watch. I have had so much fun utilizing new skills and equipment I have purchased so I have a better, safer time out in the woods.
Zero problem watching your videos in whatever length you make them. Thanks for doing what you do Shawn.

All my life I've water proofed anything I want with 5 parts naphtha and 1 part 100% clear silicone caulking. Last year I threw out a ten year old tent, but treated the rain fly tarp. It was tested in my back yard and is 100% no excuses completely waterproof in an all night long storm. Just mix it up in a 5 gallon bucket, throw in tarp or whatever, soak an hour, dry out on back yard clothes line
i dont care what you do, im gonna watch. i started watching to listen and learn from your experience, not only as a marine but also as an outdoorsman. i enjoy your skillset , knowledge and attitude. thanks for your persistence and thanks for the extra effort and time for videography and editing.
No matter how long your video is it's a learning experience, so keep them coming what ever it takes.
I look forward to all of your videos no matter if you are out in the woods or building something like the off the grid cabin in the woods. Keep doing what you love
Yesss! Back to the good old overnighter builds! 😍
despite what people say about not watching your future shorts, i am certain they will get lots of views. You have years' worth of absolutely solid information so when you tap into the market of those that wouldn't normally watch due to short attention spans, I believe it will access a market of new viewership for you. Just my opinion. idk maybe I'm wrong & don't know sh*t but i can guarantee you I'll be watching em
Am hearing from a lot of youtube sites I watch that YT is causing major headaches for many posters. Firearms channels are having a helluva time. Also hearing many are bailing to Rumble. Disappointing that somebody(s) always effs up a good thing. I'll support this channel no matter where it is cuz there's nothing but good intentions and honest content always with something to learn with every viewing. Keep up the good fight Corp. Semper Fi from Vietnam Era Navy vet .
I appreciate you, doing what you're doing. doesn't matter to me real life or Outdoors it's entertaining corporal, thank you!🇺🇲
Oilskin tarps are crazy expensive, this is a great way to make your own. Would love to see more DIY gear tutorials like this!
Thank you for all the videos. Don't worry about what everyone thinks. Just do what makes you happy.
My Dad’s retired now, his saying is ‘why do today what I can put off until tomorrow’ then he says ‘it’s nap time’. Funny shit. Thanx Corp, hope ya get millions watchin ✌️
We all know KZread isn't a fan of learning real world survival skills. Please keep doing what you are doing Sir. I thank you.
You can use Thompsons water seal for masonry to water proof your canvas, use a weed sprayer, very little smell
Great AF Video like always!! Can't understand how viewers won't watch a 60 second short to help you grow!! Thanks for the knowledge!!! Semper Fi Cpl!!
2 gallon pump up sprayer would be easier and faster and give a nice even coating
I'll give a 3rd option of water proofing , Normal silicone & white spirits ratio 2;1 2 parts silicone , 1 part white spirits on anything cloth. I used the anti-mould silicone .Weigh equal parts , Mix 2 small tubes or cartridges of silicone & white spirits in a glass container with a screw lid , Mix /shake well until it's clear either brush on or place in a container , completely soak/wet .Then hang on the line to dry. No smell ! I did an old flat sheet ,queen size sheet .It's light weight folds up to very small & does the job. Mine has rope sown around boarder & grommets .Try it on an old pair of gloves & see if it's what you need .
I jump on your videos as soon as I get the message. I will continue to support your channel, and if I find your shorts I will watch them too. That is the cost of saving the content makers you want to watch. Keep up the good work Corp.
As always your video was spot on Sir. Shorts might be the future in some cases. But a regular length video is still my go to. Love all your content in all your videos. Nowadays the producers of these platforms are out to make as much money as they can. But there is more to life than just making money. There are lessons to learn from your videos. Survival lessons in how to keep you and your family safe in such a wacked up world. Great job today Mr Kelly.
The way I see it the people saying they'd refuse to watch are not fans of you they only care about what you can give them. I understand that your videos have to bring in the majority of viewers and new viewers though. I'm happy to see any video from you. That step brothers reference was hilarious too!
Encouraging words: you are a Marine who by your nature overcomes and adapts - you “get ‘er done.” You’ll do fine!
Everyone remembers wax on wax off but only a proud few know paint the fence 😂❤️🇺🇸🦅
I don't think there will ever be a video of yours that I will not watch and enjoy. Be it long-form, short-form or whatever, I'll be watching!
Sunday Funday at Corporals Corner!! Outstanding skills video Shawn 📹 Keep up the great work and awesome editing Sir!!
I'll watch whatever you put out as is not just the builds you do but the attitude and great determination you exhibit. Keep the faith.
For a more permanent waterproofing hob, pour a little drying oil (linseed, tung, silicone sealant) into the mineral spirits. I used boiled linseed oil - 4% by volume, hardened up in four days to nice waterproof oilskin. Next time I will a little non-drying oil ( Tocopherol acetate ) to keep more flexibility. Being a chemist is occasionally useful.
As long as you put out videos I'm going to watch them you never know what you could learn lol
Have you tried sandwiching some nylon rope into your grommet seams? It would make it more durable and even more useful. Thanks!
I will watch all your videos. Your one of my favorite channels. I look forward to your videos.
Good video. Suggestion next time you make a painter cover water proof try use odorless turpentine and clear silicone calling 100% . I used it on a 3 man hunting blind and it worked great watched a lady treat a book bag. Keep it up on the video and the builds you are doing
Nice homemade tarp. The framework shelter and tarp made for a great shelter. Thanks for sharing your skills.
Spend a few dollars and get a pump up jug with a spray wand. This won't be the only project it works great for.
Like your railroad lantern. I have never been dissatisfied with any of these videos, if anyone of us could only do half as good. Very wise advice and something I'm so guilty of.
I could watch and enjoy a video of corporal just chopping wood with no fear of him harming himself. I can't say that about others.😆
Very much appreciate showing us how you made the tarp yourself. The barn looks awesome! Love every single video you create. I watched the Sweden video for the first time yesterday. That was a great video. Keep it going Corp!
all your stuff is great, don't take those complainers about not being in the woods too seriously. stay safe.
You’re doing a great job buddy. Keep the faith.
I glad I became a member of your channel I have been really enjoying watching your videos your shelters are really cool
Even if tube throttles you back. We will keep watching multiple videos multiple times. We will keep you as close to the top as we can.
Another great video Corporal. I don't know why some complain. I enjoy all your videos. Each offers a learning experience. Thank you for all you do for the community.
I once went on an overnight trip with an old canvas curtain from Ikea as my shelter. I painted it with some brown house paint and gray spray paint, sewed my own holes for guy lines. I used it as a lean-to, up against a large rock which was high enough for me to sit up against and served as my head board. Slept like a baby.
If these shorts mean more time watching your content, then bonus! Keep up the good work! Sorry YT are being so difficult.
That was an outstanding video! The Corporal always has the most original and innovative content. Strike first, strike hard!
Hey man, my wife and I look forward to watching your videos every Sunday. I know you pay keen attention to the metrics on the KZread, but we were talking and have an idea for you... What about some scenario-based video series that not only utilize the Bush crafting, but real-world survival training ? Some with full kit... some when a full edc kit is untenable. 20 miles from home, on your way back from work and the lights go out, truck is dead... You see my point. Might be pretty cool, and (us at least) haven’t seen anything like it. Have a great Sunday!
Don't Procrastinate!! Excellent!! So many pple nowadays sit and put things off rather than getting them Done and out of the way. They Miss such a feeling of Freedom when All is done and you can go and play / relax / read / have a drink / or simply enjoy looking at what you have achieved that day. You are so right!! 👍🙂
Shawn - I have been a fan for years, watched every video I can find. Please stay stay diesel! I'll watch what you post. Learn something from every vid!
Cpl People have their opinions but the fact is; is that YOU make a someone out there like me a better survivalist 👍 I’m always eager to learn new things Enjoy! Stay safe and keep up the good work ~Nunica, MI ~
Thanks Corporal ! Love your videos! Keep them coming!
This is very interesting I like u come up with the best stuff keep up the great work
Always appreciate your weekly Corporal Corner segments. More than just a weekly routine of tuning in, but a weekly routine of learning to be a honest man. Salute to you Corporal 🦅🇺🇸
Nice job as always, keep up the good work!
I for one am super excited about watching your shorts in addition to your regular videos! The more the better!
Done this !!! It's awesome. I had a problem with my grommets tearing out so I ended up using small stones or pieces of wood on the underside of the tarp to give me something to wrap my line around from the outside of the tarp.
When I rivet canvas material like that I pre soak the canvas where the hole is with superglue to keep the fibers all together and help prevent splitting and pulling out later
Great idea with the mineral spirits for the tarp!!! God bless you Jesus loves you!!!
The final thoughts rang true as usual. I’m in a commission job where I work 6 or 7 days a week, about 55 hours a week, and I get home and want to do nothing but relax and rest. I know I can do more and get the satisfaction that comes with it, but I’m not always willing to. It’s definitely a struggle! As far as “shorts” go, firestarting skills is what I’d go with to start, but I’ll be honest, I’d watch you play Defender or Missile Command on the 2600 and still be happy. Keep doing what you do, and I’ll keep watching 😁
So , I've never seen a demonstration on making a waterproof canvas tarp with JUST mineral spirits . It's always been Naphtha n Silacone or Boiled Linseed Oil , which always takes a couple of weeks to dry . that's really interesting .
Wow, You are the hardest working man on the internet! Great video
Great DIY! You can mix mineral spirits w/linseed oil and have the best of both worlds. The linseed is carried into the fabric by the mineral spirits. 50/50 ratio. Great vid.
I come here (on KZread) to watch, to relax or learn something new (I watch YT instead of TV) and I don't watch shorts unless they're made by a friend. That's a really nice tarp, great job waterproofing it and your sausage burger cook up has me raiding the fridge late at night. 👍

Thank you for all the great videos.
OF course, we will watch your SHORTS!!! - don't listen to the haters! -
Shawn, i am so glad to see you are still making videos. i am sure that many of us are concerned about your well being after the Ohio Train Disaster. i really don't have the words. I hope you and your family are doing well. Be Safe. :)
Didn’t know mineral spirits by itself was a waterproofing agent. I recent mixed a gallon of mineral spirits and tube of clear silicone and treated some of my clothing to waterproof them with success.
Longtime subscriber. Put silicone on the spirits mix till dissolved then soak or paint it on canvas. I did it and think its way better
I am 65 years old in still camp out and conoe when I can. Been running out to the woods as soon as I could jump a stump. I loved watching your videos you teach me new stuff every once in a while which is hard for most shows to do. Not bragging just been doing a long time you and Dave Canterbury are my favorite. Thanks for your great videos keep up the great work your one of the best.

I myself like the shorts and the 30 minute videos as well, so keep up the good work and God bless you and your family.
Remember why you're doing this: It's because you love making the content first, profits second. I'm nowhere near where you are with the amount of subs and views, but I continue to make content on my passion because it's what I love. As soon as it feels like a job, you've lost the passion. Keep up the great content and don't sweat the small stuff.
Hi Shawn: Just wanted to say Thank You for all these labor intensive builds you embark on to inform and keep us entertained every week. I've done the grommet installation thing before on black out curtains (to keep the sunshine out of a transport truck bunk). Gnarly little job, though not grubby like digging post holes! No detail too small for you! Keep up the good work!
Maybe try using a garden sprayer to apply
In the woods or not, your skills are pure knowledge either way! Do it your way!❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍
I enjoy watching your videos no matter what the content Thank You
do your Pushups pullups and squats everyday for years!!!! Hoorah. Strong af at 48.... Thank you devil dog for another great, inspiring, encouraging, and motivating video. Hoorah semper Fidelis...pure integrity... stay hard leatherneck. We can kill.
I have made several of these over the past 40 years and I finally started using a pump weed sprayer. I use the same sprayer for applying CanVac to my wall tents. I used boiled linseed oil with a rust dye… but I did it outside because that linseed oil can catch fire as it dries. Love your videos brother… I started camping like this when I was 16 and that has been a few days ago. You can’t beat a roll of bank line. Be safe and enjoy the stars at night
When I look back at all the videos you have done it’s amazing. I used to enjoy the thirty minute ones but I get it . I believe there is no one doing what you are doing . Another great one 👍
that sausage egg and cheese looks insanely good
I had no idea mineral sprits acted like a waterproofer.
Cool video. I don't always comment but I'm always watching. I loved the Skyrim build because Skyrim was one of my favorite games. F the haters. Build what you want to build and your loyal viewers will watch it
Interesting and educational sir. Keep the videos coming. Thanks

I liked the canvas and the basic camp
I’ve been nuked off Twitter but will continue to share links and shorts on Truth Social. The way things are going everyone needs to see these things. 💯😇🇨🇦 Thanks for all the hard work you put in. Loved the DIY Waterproof Canvas Tarp. I want that breakfast sandwich.
normally you would mix the mineral spirits with silicone, or mix linseed oil with turpentine, not sure what the purpose of the mineral spirits is on its own, in terms of waterproofing?
The tribute to Mr. Myagi kept me watching. Good timing
❤I love your videos. Each one has something new and I appreciate your hard work trying to please everyone. I will watch whatever I can no matter how long or short it is.
