I'm barely even a hobbyist woodworker - but I went and bought BigPrint the very first time I saw it because of how good the concept is. I have a distinct memory of trying to print a paper ruler at one point, and trying to figure out how to get it to scale correctly. Forums full of computer experts would tell me different things like "Oh, it depends a lot on like what printer you have, what print settings you're using, what drivers you have, etc. etc. etc." But it's plain as day that it doesn't need to be anywhere near that complicated. Thanks Matthias for your awesome work.

i get where you are coming from, but also what they are trying to explain. Your at home, cheap (comperatively, all things considered) printer doest really care about sterching or scaling your printjob by a percent or two hear or there, and thats just fine, the manufacturer has no reason to do better, and most people dont care. Matthias probably doesnt care about his dimensions being off a tiny bit across the board, it is just furniture, but on something like a ruler, you cant really trust your printer. It almost always going to be off a little bit. One thing you can do is start with a close -ish sized print, measure it, then scale what goes out "for real" to adjust. You probably will need to scale differently across and along the page.

Hi Matthias, I was wondering what your advice would be for a substitute joinery method if one does not have a Pantorouter / slot morticer? Specifically for chairs I’m wondering if multiple dowels would be strong enough or if it’s wiser to drill out the mortises and pair them up with a chisel and then make floating tenons by hand? I’ve always wanted to make a chair but as you point out in your videos the joinery is where the rubber meets the road… how did your dad use to join the parts together? Many thanks :)

I’m gunna say again - I would have enjoyed being a student in your classroom. Better - your teacher. What I could have learned. What could have been done. Remarkable fellow you are.
