For those asking where to find tools:
I bought mine some years ago when I was starting to make leather sheaths. I went for the cheapest I was able to find. Have been working great so far! Can't find exactly the one I have but I listed some in my amazon storefront that are pretty much the same and any similar ones will work aswell.

Always a pleasure to see you working with leather. The tools are so different and interesting =)
Gotta love Italy and Italians: every single engine you hear in the background is at full throttle :) They put passion in everything they do.. driving, manufacturing, restoring... :)
Awesome work, leatherwork always had a dear spot in my heart

Sweet pouch
Fascinating.
Awesome!
good job tumbs up
The glue spatula is amazing. Antique/second hand store I'm guessing. Really want one like that. I'm using cheap ones I find for wood glue spreading and the pencil sized double ended things for leatherworking glues.

fabulous
I thought, oh, we'll give it a watch, I was expecting to skip through and just see the end result. I soon found that actually, leather working is very satisfying. I'm a blacksmith, but I think leather working could be a great additional craft

Absolutely they complement each other. Make sheaths for your knives, and hardware for your leather goods. There's a market for specialty buckles and conchos and things for leather workers.
Merci beaucoup c est professionnel et j apprend de vos techniques Bon courage

Hi master! Nice leatherwork as always 💖 where are you buying the leather for your projects?
@BlackBeardProjects
5 жыл бұрын
Hi there! I buy it locally near my town, found it through a google search. If you can't find anything ask to a shoemaker, companies that makes soles or such will probably sell you some leather for a fair price!
So chill, relaxing, and when I start I can't take my eyes off for a second. Great video again! Also what kind of leather do you use ?
@BlackBeardProjects

Thanks a lot! I don't know much about leather specifications, it's like treated cow of some sort. The guy who sold it to me was making belts!

From the looks of it and the fact that he's using a giant cut and wetforming it, my guess would be a veg tanned double shoulder cut of leather. Two millimeters thick, from the looks of it. Dyed a brandy or bourbon brown.
muy buna me encanto eres genial
Cool
What kind of leather is he using and where can I get it
Any idea if there are good leather alternatives that I could do this same project with?
@JayWalkerOnline

Waxed canvas. It's similar to leather, though you would have to find some way to make pockets, since I don't think there's any material that wet forms like veg tanned leather.
Fantastic but do you have links for your leather making tools? This is a great video one of your best thanks very much James
yeah i always imagine...when the sawdust clears, standin there, this toolwarrior, wearing such toolbelt and apron harness, circular saws bounce off when put them down and they flip and the safefy is broken, or stop a nailgun or ramset bolt, hehe. and if you need to repel through fire, you would be ok there too. drills snagging no way. reciprocating saws, no fear! now thats one completely toolkitted out workwarrior! and look good and savvy doing it too with work like yours!
WHERE do you get that much good leather
Muy interesante los proyectos que e podido ver seria muy bueno las medidas y esa herramirntaque desvasta como se llama soy de cali colombia
Hey there! Great project! What tools were used to make it?
AWESOME Video thank you, I enjoyed Watching you create the pouch, I used to do leatherwork when I was a child, had All the tools but that was a very long time ago, I think I will get back into it. Thanks again!
I love your work. I enjoy watching the process come together and the level of skill and care that you take. Rock on! :)

What kind of leather is that? What oz and where from? The color is outstanding! Great project, you just helped me figure out how to go about designing something ive had teouble with for a while... So thanks so much!

I remember him saying he got it from a local cobbler who was willing to sell him leather. He's wet forming it, so the leather is probably veg tanned leather, and if it's the same as his other projects, it's 2mm leather (5 - 6 oz I think). It's a big cut so probably double shoulder? Looks like it's been dyed a deep bourbon brown.

I'm American and I agree. I use a metric tape measure for building projects because it's easier to divide by 10, than units of 12, and 16.

Do you know what kind of leather it is ?
@jandastroy

My guess would be a cow hide pelt of some sort. There's a lot of good cuts that if dried and treated properly make similar grade pouches to the hardware store versions for various trades.
