You made one comment I think might go over people’s heads but from personal experience you really have to take into account. “Be prepared to attribute failures to yourself and wins to external circumstances.” Sometimes life is strange and tends to hand people certain wins, whether it be a promotion or a surge in social media following, but it came completely from luck and not due to their own merits. When that happens, its important to step up to the occasion and really take on the responsibility that comes with the success. On the other hand, people might not be prepared to assume their own failures or sometimes if they do, they’re not prepared to learn from them. Although you did make this comment a major tip, I do feel like it deserves more attention.

Sydney, I really like what you said about how if people aren't prepared to accept their own failures, they may not be ready to learn from them. And learning from failures is something we always need to be doing. We truly need to PREPARE ourselves not only to *endure* our own failures, but also to *accept* those failures as our own rather thinking that they're due solely to external (uncontrollable) circumstances. If we don't do this, we'll never learn from those failures -- and a failure that we don't learn from is a wasted failure! Thanks for the thought-provoking comment!

Knowing whether a success is due to the work you put in, or due to pure luck is an important factor to measure when assessing your effectiveness. You may have gotten lucky but that does not last through your entire journey. That piece of advice is important to remember, especially in today's day with social media. People believe the way to get successful is to get lucky and have a post or video go viral, but hard work always shines through.

I am currently self-employed giving private hitting/fielding lesson to young softball players along with coaching a little league softball team. As my softball lesson clientele grew, I had to self-asses and analyze what would be the most cost and time effective for me. Throughout these mile stone assessments, I would make small changes to stay on track to my goal like cutting excessive travel time and gas consumption for clients in similar areas. I feel like self-assessments are super important in reaching your goal because it reminds you of what you are trying to accomplish and refocuses your path.

Brittany, I also feel as though self assessments are extremely important in reaching our goals. I also feel like by using self-assessments, we can gain more understanding on our strengths and weaknesses and by understanding this deeper we can improve on ourselves and accomplish more goals.

The importance of being aware of why you actually want to build your brand is something I haven't thought of but is so important. We need a roadmap and goals to direct us in our efforts of growing our brand. Building your brand without a clear path will steer us nowhere and we will just end up disappointed in the long run. Moving forward I'm going to put more thought into my why when I do something related to growing my brand.

0 seconds ago Anthony, Creating one’s personal brand is essential and one must understand the “why” aspect in this process. Being a small business owner, I must always sit back and reflect on why I do what I do and why do I portray myself in the manner that I do. For me, understanding the why aspect is the most important part of building my personal brand because when one doesn’t understand the reason behind doing something it never comes out correctly. Great video!

The section of this video that struck me the most was the discussion of using KPI's and recognizing plateaus in progress. As someone who has worked hard to build a personal brand, I've experienced instances where my efforts seem to stall, leaving me feeling unsure of how to get back on track towards my goals. This has been particularly true as I work to build my brand as a marketing and finance student, and I've often found myself feeling demotivated and struggling to keep up with the tasks necessary to make progress. However, Anthony's advice in the video was a powerful reminder that these plateaus are a normal part of the journey towards success. His insights provided me with valuable perspective on how to change the trajectory of my brand and take concrete steps towards achieving my goals. I'm grateful for this new perspective and i am feeling much more confident about my ability to navigate the inevitable bumps in the road on the path to building a successful personal brand.

Your personal experience demonstrates that it is a frequent event and worrying about it too much will only result in negative thoughts. Remaining positive helps in getting back on the upwards track of success.

Hi Anthony, you have provided outstanding points to make your personal brand effective in business. Step number one is essential in beginning your brand-building by aligning your core values to lead your reputation towards better opportunities in the industry. Compose a brand that is effective toward your life by determining your goals, performing assessments, measuring effectiveness, and reevaluating efforts. This video has inspired me to reassess my efforts toward my professional brand since I was recently promoted to office manager. Revising my brand will benefit my future in business when the next opportunity arrives.

Something that stood out to me in this video was when he mentioned writing down the things you wish to accomplish. Growing up my mom always told me to write down any goal I was to accomplish and anything I wish to have. I asked her why I needed to do this and she responded by saying that I would manifest these things into my life. And by writing it stone it would encourage me to work hard to achieve what I wanted and where I want to be. It was interesting listening to Anthony say the same thing as my mother has been saying to me fro several years and truth be told someone my goals have come true.

Hi, @biancauriarte1720! I genuinely appreciate your insight, and it's truly touching to see how Anthony's advice resonated with the invaluable life lesson your mother imparted to you. The power of writing down our goals cannot be overstated. When we pen down our aspirations, it's as if we're setting a tangible commitment with ourselves, turning abstract ideas into concrete intentions. Your testimony and many others show a deep-rooted psychological (and perhaps even spiritual) dimension to this simple yet potent act. It's a reminder that age-old wisdom and contemporary advice sometimes converge for a reason. Cheers to manifesting more dreams into reality!

One of the means that motivated me to change the manner in which I brand myself was where Miyazaki stated, "why you need to fabricate your image" in the video. I not even once considered the "why" segment to be of such significance when I was building my brand. Paying attention to him talk on the significance of having a why and how to foster one, I understood that I must start contemplating what my objectives are for my own brand as well. With that, I will begin to see greater development in building my brand.

A "hidden gem" in the video that stood out to me is the idea of establishing a "personal board of directors." This involves surrounding oneself with a group of trusted advisors who can provide feedback and support in building one's personal brand. This concept holds significant weight as it underscores the need to actively seek out varied viewpoints for honing and enhancing one's brand. Moreover, it highlights the value of building relationships and networking, both pivotal elements in the development of a thriving personal brand.

Hello Anthony, I believe the "hidden gem" in this video is the importance of having a "why." We often don't realize how important it is for us to have a reason behind our projects. Sometimes people believe that it is all about the monetary aspect but in reality that fades away with time. Our "why" is what keeps up moving forward despite the obstacles that might appear in our way. Our "why" is our fuel to build our brand with a deeper meaning than "just because" or for any monetary reason. "Why ” serves as both the inspiration for what you are doing and a reassertion to be rooted, determined, and committed.

Hello Amelian, I agree with your comment about the importance of a “why.” Nowadays, we tend to dissociate from our lives, which leads us down a path of uncertainty of reality. Our “why” should be connecting building our brand behind our way of living. Our way of living demonstrates our existence by concluding the reasoning behind our motivation, desires, accomplishments, and resilience toward our goals.

One of the important steps that resonated with me was the why of your brand. I think this is the most important step to having your brand because if you start something you need to know why you are doing it. When you have your why then everything else becomes easier. Using this information for my professional life is very helpful because now when I do certain things in my career I can remember why I am doing that specific job and focus on my goals.

Going about brand-building in a tapered, highly specific way seems like a simple yet highly effective way to achieve your desired targets. As business students, we have applied the same principles to our resumes. As opposed to keeping a generic copy of our resume to submit to all appealing job postings, we are to edit our resume in accordance to a given posting’s job responsibilities. This motif shines throughout the video- whether related to revising a project timeline or reevaluating specific brand activities.

While I overall believe that this video has amazing points and gives the best steps to be more effective and powerful when building a great personal brand, the point of the video that I agree with the most is in Step #3 the fact that conducting regular assessments of brand effectiveness is a good way to stay on track and that depending on your goals you should conduct these assessments on a monthly, biweekly or daily basis. Tracking your progress is a great way to progressively build your brand and also revise what you think you need to improve.

Hello Anthony! Your video taught me a lot about building a powerful and effective personal brand. The four-step process was simple yet detailed, and the first step, determining why you want to build your brand, was especially impactful for me. I realized that I had been focusing on the values I wanted others to see in me, but I hadn't considered my career goals. This made me seem unsure. I now understand that I need a game plan that aligns my goals with my brand before I start building it. Without this, I risk coming across as inexperienced and uncertain in the professional world. This experience inspired me to take a personal dive into what I want for myself, what type of marketing I want to pursue, and what position I want to achieve.

The importance of regularly checking on yourself cannot be overstated. Sometimes people give up too easily when not seeing results. I immediately think of people with say, New Year’s Resolutions to go to the gym. They get motivated and start, which is a great step, but then give up a couple of weeks later when they don’t see results. I think they don’t carry out this step. It is essential for people to keep checking on themselves, revising, and upgrading their plans constantly to gain value from them. This is how eventually; they will reach the goals and milestones they strive for.

This is true, many go to the gym the first month or maybe first few weeks, then give up because its inconvenient, it requires hardworking, dedication, consistency, and it doesn't give quick results. Those who are successful are those regularly checking on themselves and actually putting in the work.

I think a lot of people fall into the trap of thinking that once they've set a goal, they don't need to revisit it or make adjustments along the way. I am mind-blown by this video. As I listened to the steps on how to make an effective and powerful brand, I was hearing the same steps one would use to develop a campaign for any other product. Why would developing a personal brand be any different than the process we use on any given day, in our professional lives for a product or brand? If we have the knowledge and experience, it takes the same effort and thought-out process to develop an efficient strategy to market ourselves. I would go as far as reviewing that information and pitch it back to ourselves; If it makes sense and resonates with our personal goals, then the strategy is strong. Just as you would pitch the strategy to a client, and ask if the campaign aligns with their product and goals, we need to review it and prepare it to guarantee it aligns with our personal brand.

Hey Anthony, this video gave amazing short simple four steps that are super effective for those who do not know where to start when starting a business. The most important part of marketing a brand is knowing what brand you are going to market. As said in the video, you should conduct assessments in order to make sure that you can see your progress. This video reminds me of what happens when people go into the gym. Many start the gym with a motive, but they do not know how to achieve that motive. These individuals will see small progress, stay with that small progress for a while until they decide to improve what they are doing wrong.

Hi Anthony, I believe that these four steps are a clear and comprehensive roadmap for building an effective and powerful personal brand. Throughout this semester we have been learning how to build our personal brand or image to be more presentable in front of an employer, a company, or any professional. Starting with understanding our why or target audience, as it serves as the foundation for all our brand-building efforts. Constructing meaningful measurements and KPIs in Step 2 provides the necessary metrics to track progress and make informed decisions. Step 3's emphasis on regular assessments ensures adaptability and responsiveness, essential in our ever-evolving world. And, of course, Step 4 underlines the importance of continuous improvement. This structured approach not only helps in career advancement but also in leading a purpose-driven life, aligning your personal brand with your goals and values.

The why to building your brand part of the video is what stayed with me after watching it a couple of times. If you don't know why you want to get to where you want, you may end up there but not feel accomplished. It is essential when going through the process of building a brand to have a purpose for it and to have a sense of what you want to get out of the process. As the professor mentioned, it could be landing a particular job or working for a particular company. The other steps are important as well but asking yourself why is the foundation, and a strong foundation makes for an even stronger house.

Through my own experience, there had been a time I noticed that my efforts were there, but they weren't effective. This made me change course and reevaluate my brand-building activities, in order to been making that progress again. Also, something that I noticed is that all the progress didn't happen all at once, it took consistent efforts throughout months in order to see that growth. I had to hold myself accountable to work toward developing my personal and professional brand.

Hello Anthony! I truly found this video very moving, specifically step three where while conducting regular assessments of brand effectiveness, people may experience experience plateaus. I have experienced this concept after around an eight months of working at my workplace. Around this time, I went ahead and conducted step 4 where I revised my brand-building activities. This is when I began taking to my superiors asking for an opportunity to try branching out into different departments for more experience. Although this is a work in progress, the ways to improve effectiveness by determining your why, constructing meaningful measures, assessing regularly, and revising as needed were very game-changing in my perspective of building personal branding.

There are a lot of new things I learned through the video on how to make myself effective and powerful. Being around other successful people or the same people trying to reach the same goal is effective. To the brand you're trying to build should be allied with your passion and the goals you are trying to achieve. Something I haven't considered before was attributing failures to myself because people in general don't want to acknowledge their failures or things about them at all. But by thinking about them you can learn from you're mistakes and grow in your career.

Hey Anthony: A common step in which I used constantly is my revision of rebranding activities. This was heavily presented and measured back before I changed my major in 2021. I was intrigued with a pre-law route and saw myself often taking electives, classes, or even jobs that was catered toward that field. Suddenly one day I decided pre law just was not for me and that the world of financial management was of best interest. After a long hard thought, I switched to Finance and I have not looked back since. By switching majors, the manners, metrics, and milestones in which I was measuring were pivoted to one that was catered towards finance. These revisions still occur today and as time continues I make sure they align with my five and ten year plans.

Hi Anthony! Throughout my life, I have gone participated in retreats or speaking that often times results in the conversation of "finding your why?". This something that I have carried out in my daily life to give myself motivation to act out on certain things, big or small. As you related your "why?" to professional life, I agree with what you said. While building your brand, aside from being authentic, it is important to make it clear to others and yourself as to WHY you do what you do. When that message comes clear, it shows what you do do, and also what you may be good at. It can also give others a deeper understanding of your values and goals.

Anthony, another wonderful video! Personal branding is a crucial aspect of marketing and sales, and it's always valuable to gain new perspectives in this area. One aspect of the video that offers a different perspective on personal branding is the emphasis on authenticity. Anthony may have discussed how authenticity should be at the core of one's personal brand. In an era where the digital world often pushes us to curate and present idealized versions of ourselves, being genuine and true to who you are can be a refreshing and effective approach. Embracing authenticity in personal branding can build trust and meaningful connections with your audience. It's not just about showcasing success but also sharing your challenges, failures, and the journey that shaped you. This approach can resonate more deeply with people, as it shows that you're not just a polished image but a real person with relatable experiences.

The part of the video that really hit home for me was when they talked about making clear goals and measurements for personal branding. This resonates with my professional life because it stresses the importance of setting goals and keeping track of how well I'm doing. By having specific ways to measure my progress, I can make sure I'm on the right track and making improvements in my career. This concept also reminds me to be flexible and adjust my branding efforts based on what I learn from these measurements. It's a practical way to improve my professional image and keep growing in my career.

Hi, I had a similar takeaway from Anthony's video. I think that having a "why" to your personal brand helps you have a goal to work towards. These goals can help you to mark your successes and develop your personal brand. Understanding why you are doing something helps you remember the reasons you want to succeed and can help keep you motivated toward a goal.

Anthony, This video is interesting to watch for young business students like me. This video is very informational and influenced me to understand marketing in a different way. Every single one of these steps really ensure your brand as effective. The step that is most important to me is the first one, which is knowing why you want you build a brand. There has to be a main reason as to why someone wants to build a brand and knowing that can greatly influence the future of the brand and take it to the next level. If one is serious about taking the brand to the next level then they should write down the goals about the brand, what to do exactly with the brand, and what they want to offer with the brand.

Determining why you want to build your brand I believe is the most important step when it comes to developing your personal brand. I connected most with this step because while developing my personal brand and writing down all my goals I always make sure to provide a reason why. Having a reason behind goals or your personal brand helps you stay motivated because you are working towards a specific outcome. I use this concept of providing a reason why in my professional life by making goals with a reason whether it be to reach a certain number in sales so I can travel to a certain place or to reach a certain sales number to gain a certain status.

Hey Gracie, plateaus are bound to happen when life simply gets complacent. We may sometimes not want them to occur but it might be out of discretion, I like using moments of plateau not as a form of failure or a method of relaxing, but as a period of regrowth. During these slower periods we must learn why we do what we do and then use the brand new motivation or knowledge to escape and break the plateau.

The only way to properly do this task is keeping yourself in check and honest so you can thoroughly complete your yearly goals.
