    The smaller sprue with the pouring cup is brilliant. Works so well. I often see other people casting with a sprue the size of a 40oz beer. Almost more aluminum in it than the part. Makes no sense.

    @olfoundryman8418

    Amalgamous. As you say "makes no sense" You would think that people would look at the stream they are pouring down that huge sprue and realise that they do not a hole that big but they don't. I think some think it a feeder as well but a sprue is a sprue and a feeder is a feeder and never the twain should meet... Martin

Oh, and I have NEVER opened a mould without some trepidation - did it run, has it a defect, did it feed, does it have loose grain, did the cores blow etc, etc. If you do not have these feelings then I doubt you are putting enough into it - for me its a body AND soul effort - may it ever be thus... Yes, I do advise sanding and painting the entire print BUT it is not strictly necessary - its just that I am a bit of a pedantic old fuss pot. 😏This mould was made form a mainly un-sanded and definitely unpainted pattern as and you will see in about a week when I release the video of it being cast it produced a quite useable casing. MY plan at the moment is to cast 4 of each of the 150, 200, and 250 size two of these sizes will be from well sanded and painted patterns and the other size will be from a pattern to which the absolute minimum of preparation has been done - stay tunned!... Andy, Brandon, Sorry I missed your comments. I have a small very cheap and nasty regulator in the air line set to 25 PSI. The initial pulse of air is a bit strong so I ether aim the nozzle away from the mould at first or squeeze the handle on the air nozzle slowly one flowing the air is at 15 PSI and this won't usually damage the mould unless the detail is very fine in which case I hold the nozzle a fair way off so the mould is only receiving a gentle breeze - its a practice and acquired technique thing....
