This was one of the most entertaining skits I’ve seen in a long time. Emma Stone is brilliant. Her lip sync session with Jimmy Fallon I have watched 10 times.

Chloe Troast really has a set of pipes on her. Her singing is phenomenal

I like Chloe more and more every episode.

The concept of this sketch is comedy gold and could NOT be more well executed. Emma Stone’s acting is unbelievable. Her facial expressions, physicality, she is so talented and so good at this type of unhinged performance. The supporting players are also incredible. This sketch is perfection. I was crying with laughter. Emmy please.

I’m just in awe

This sketch was about Mama Cass and it didn't have one joke about her weight. Extraordinary writing and Emma knocking it out of the park. This is another classic Emma sketch like Wells for Boys and the actress.

@@averagedayif you’re truly asking and not being sarcastic…..bc Mama Cass was very heavy and it’s been the focus of jokes for 50 years. That she choked on a ham sandwich and that’s why she died, etc. Even in the Mamas and the Papas, Michelle Philips was the classic California beauty, and I remember them talking incredulously about the love letters Cass Elliot got, more than Michelle, despite her presumed unattractiveness, that it was bc of her beautiful voice that men fell in love. They overlooked her weight bc she sang like an angel. Even one of their song lyrics was “and no one’s getting fat except Mama Cass.” So most references to her are jokes about her obesity.

it's not very good

It’s always so much better when a sketch has a final punchline, a lot of SNL sketches seem to end really randomly without resolution, but this one is set up well and lands and just wraps up the whole sketch beautifully

Emma is exceptional because she KNOWS HER LINES so can focus on acting. Other guests (and most of the cast) don't and have to focus on just READING their lines. Emma delivers great entertainment.

Adam Driver, Melissa McCarthy, Emma Stone, Justin Timberlake all perform like the best cast members who can riff without reading the lines (ex. the bronx beat skit with Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Andy Samberg, and Justin Timberlake)

Uh, perhaps peak 70's for my generation...

After watching this sketch so, so many times, I think it's one of the best-crafted sketches I've seen on SNL. It's setting up the final gag from the beginning. - First slow-mo establishes the premise - Second slow-mo sets up the scenario of the "powerless" woman in a room full of powerful executives - Third slow-mo/scenario introduces the idea of the movie trailer - Fourth slow-mo, combines all three of the above A lot of SNL closing jokes just try to be surprising or unexpected, but this one is set up so well.

I think the humor in this sketch is for a very specific kind of person. I personally loved every second of it, but I can see this not being everyone's sense of humor. Emma did fantastic, and Chloe singing always blows me away.

@@Cellogrinder1 It's in the same universe because it was probably written at 3 AM when everyone was tired and slap-happy and throwing random ideas at the wall to see what sticks. The big difference would be that Cowbell was the one in a million gem that is somehow brilliant in spite of how stupid it is, and this was an unfunny mess.

This is brilliant, bridging the connection between the original songwriter's intent and how modern movies use them to juxtapose violence. Genius on the writer's part!

Yes and for the original songwriters and perfomers, and the generation who loved these songs when they were new, a royal pain in the ass hijacking and bastardizing the song's original intent

"Mama, Sing this one like a haunted *chiiild* " .... ... And she did 😮 truly phenomenal impersonation and singing. ❤

This skit is working overtime on a lot of levels. It’s skewering and satiric in the best ways imaginable. Kudos to whoever wrote this and for the cast for hammering it home.

One of the reasons this hit so well is that Emma memorized her lines, and wasn't locked on the cue cards - true professional. If it didn't have that flow, it would have tanked. Kudos to everyone involved in this sketch. SNL at its best!

Emma deserves an academy award for this skit . This is probably the 30th time I’m watching it

It's amazing how much better a skit becomes when you have a talented host who commits to character.

And this is why Emma is an Academy Award-winning actress. Brilliant performance. Betting that this will win her a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series. And this is Chloe Troast's breakout performance on SNL. She just got her contract renewed with this one :)

I love that they’re showcasing Chloe’s vocal range in this episode. It was like Mama Cass possessed her.

Brilliant writing and acting. The little spot about "timing" last week was foreshadowing. For Emma to get in her lines so perfectly - seamlessly blending into brief pauses during Chloe's (Mama's) smooth rendition - was truly impressive. Chloe did Mama justice.

Every 5 years or so, SNL writes a sketch that you’re sure they created just for you, and this is one of those for me. It hits me just right.

Emma Stone is one of the best actors around. Anyone else would have stalled, tripped up or stumbled on this and it’s as if she’s had three months to prepare for this role lol I love her!

I keep watching this skit and it cracks me up every time haha from the Phil Spector type wig to the “Hurkey Jerky” line 😂 💀

This was a special one here. Singing on point. Acting on point. Physical comedy on point. And the concept just works.

Not many hosts can carry the comedy of a sketch like this.

Also it's great that she sings that one note slightly flat, just like the actual Mama Cass. "-sing- your own special song" First part is always just a tiny bit flat and she nails that detail.

To be fair, it's a weird note to be hitting and your brain's first instinct is to slide into it. Especially with the arrangement being what it is. I think it'd be the first instinct of many vocalists, of which I know a large amount. If she's doing it on purpose, tho.... Then holy canolis, woman. SNL has had many good vocalists as cast members. There's a lot of crossover with music and comedy. But she is particularly good.

This is the best SNL sketch I've seen in AGES. The concept, the writing, the slo-mo, Emma, Chloe, it's all brilliant.

Emma Stone is absolutely amazing. One of the best acted skits in all of SNL.

Instant classic SNL sketch. Everyone involved crushed it.

As a big fan of the Mamas and the Papas, which of course includes the one and only Mama Cass, I appreciate this skit.

Sketch was amazing. Chloe's talents shine brighter every time. She not only has beauty, but a gift singing comedy and acting. Love it when Emma Stone hosts so talented.

Mama Cass had a big heart and was one of the most understanding people in the music business back then! She was totally approachable and LOYAL and was always there to lend a hand until the day she died.

I always love well-done layers of acting. Emma Stone playing this male producer, who plays a series of female characters, but always as more or less himself. But Emma manages to sell the whole thing perfectly.

The high quality of this sketch is on par with "More Cowbell". Absolutely loved it!
