Wow! So much info here. Thanks, Xavier. I learned a ton. The race I'm entering requires factory axles and dry lube, sadly, but this is good to know for future races.

Hey, glad i found your video. I bought nickle plated pins a few years back to mess around with. There are also nickle plating kits if you want to mess around. That King Wrex is one interesting find, now i am on the lookout for one.

Question, when you squeeze the ends on the pin, do you not make wedge that impedes the spin of the wheel? The mushroom shape of a normal pin head is more ideal, so how do you eliminate the wedge factor? Thanks

Which Tiger Wheels casting has the Fastest reputation?
@DiecastShowCustoms

same rules as other brands. You can’t really buy one and hope it’s fast. If you want something fast you have to buy 25 or 30 of the same and test them to see which are the top 5. The Porsche Tiger Wheels was known for being one of the fastest but that is near impossible to find one today.

You're wrong about the wheels, all plastic wheels are made with the same plastic. All color shifters have nickel plated axles so they don't rust and the wheels on those are not fte. Besides that great video

2:10 I have to 100% agree with the 'Skinny TIre' being better for racing. 'King Wrex' from the 'Crashers' Series. I never heard of that series, and now must find some (for their wheels of course). $30.00 to $50.00 just for one casting (using the normal search). They (HotWheels) needs to bring back those wheels using the same process they used in the 90's. 2:12 FTE wheels...No, they are not 'faster' even with the Polished Axles. I do have to add that the Early ones were better, for a short while, but the 5SP's overall are the fastest. 6:00 JohnnyLightning (JL) are not that fast, HotWheels (HW) surpasses them easily. 10:50 'Tiger Wheels'? Never heard of them, but now have to research them. I found very few of them, so they must have not sold in the United States or did very poorly. 15:50 the Drag T-Bird should already be faster than the Torino straight out of the package with those 5SP wheels. 20:18 To be fair, you should have done at least 4 passes with the castings switching places each run. 25:12 And now the casting is heavier. Nominal, Yes, but heavier. 34:44 Friction creates heat and Friction is the enemy in racing. 49:20 That would not benefit any racer that sends their casting to be raced at track, say...in California. 50:00 So, if the wheels need to be cleaned and re-siliconed before each race, sending your car out would be a bad idea? What would you suggest for castings that you send out? Very Educational and Helpful. May I add, that larger diameter wheels work better as well.

Johnny lightning wheels are indeed fast, just plagued by quality control issues, lucky if you ever get 4 good wheels and you are only as fast as the slowest wheel and one always seems to be pooched. I have had great luck with FTEs in any rip and race over 5sp, but lots have no mojo. If you polish the FTE, you are taking off the nickle, essentially making it same as any other polished axle. Tigerwheels are just heavy weight cool, they are a Puerto Rico thing, I see lots listed in florida, but just unobtainium here in the Great White North. Cool to read another obsessed racers detailed response to a video such as this. Race On .
