There really is no mystery. It's a forgone conclusion not many can say they play SOUL. I have a friend who just passed at close to 70. We played a lot in our area and made money. And then, age hit. He spent over 5k in GTI for two seasons. When he came back, he was a music Wizard. Unfortunately, the money he spent, couldn't make up his lack of S.O.U.L. End of Story. He and I with the Band we built as a blues Band stayed busy for 5 years and playing every weekend. Not the glamorous lifestyle one can envision. But the bulk of our Band is still playing live and pushing the blues/funk mix.

Says the right there BrotherMan with the follow up. I hear you Lucas. You have to agree, these chops walk the dog. But to those of the obvious cultures understand, you cannot imitate the horrors of the past. And you hear it in any REAL MIX of the People's Music. BTW, I'm a Native with more DNA than most would believe. And some of my relatives are those with high stature. I'm 67 and have been playing since I was 8. What this Brother is laying down, is a pure sauce of what could have been. And Homie nails the emotive. THIS is what Musicians strive for.

If you don’t have fun practicing, guitar probably isn’t for you. You’ll be practicing forever, even when you’re really good. The fun in guitar is practicing and being able to achieve new things. Try to step back and enjoy the process, you don’t need to sound good, you just want to have fun. The fun doesn’t begin when you’re an expert.
