If this method doesn't work for you some other alternatives are: - Doing everything traditionally on paper (I recommend making a digital colour pallete still!!) - Printing out the reference sheet lines and colouring them physically - Commissioning an artist with a thorough description of your character (not all artists will work from just descriptions though) - Buying a character from someone - Using a "fursona maker" app - Asking a close friend whom is an artist very very very very nicely for some help - Request an artist whom has publicly stated they are open for request

what if your computer makes the image blurry, are you allowed to draw around the outline then colour, even if you credit the artist

@@talkingtomfan581 if the image was not made as a free to use base, dont color it at all, even if you credit the artist. There's free bases out there if you look and always double check. Google isn't reliable with it so click the website the image comes from. If you got a free base and for some reason the lines are blurry, then you can fix them in needed but make sure you're using a good base first!

same, it's pretty much the best app I know when it comes to picking a drawing app for phone.

You know, when I first heard the term "fursona", as a weeb, I instantly related it to "persona" which, is an AWESOME game, but, when I heard fursona, my brain just grabbed these both and thought " Holy sh*t, werewolves are fursona users" And, my mind, broke all that down, and it turned into a werewolf dating Sim with some battle in mind. I can't believe how far I was at the start, and how close and accurate it was at the end...

I'm sort of in between. I can draw okay, and I use an app on my ipad, but I don't understand how people use stuff like photoshop to draw really cool things

Okay so this video was great but the best part was the "shift-control-i" HOLY HECK. It takes me so long to colour inside the lines and constantly clean up, you will be saving me hours of work for the rest of my life

A good free art software is Krita; It works on PC and Mac, and has similar features as Photoshop, as well as pre-made brushes.

I made really much fursona's and i loved and maded lot of art requests

6 years into the fandom now and I still haven’t gotten to the idea of drawing my sona until I saw this video when it first aired, months later I’m making progress on a shepherd.

Do I want a new oc? No. Have I been a digital artist making ocs for 3 years now? Yeah. Am I still watching this all of the way through? You betcha

This is bringing me back to being 12 years old on deviantART back on the late 2000 s. I'm a professional artist now, and seeing people keep the tradition of passing down knowledge and skills in the community is so incredibly inspiring ❤

I don't have a job yet, because I'm kind of young, oof, so I don't have enough money for a cool fancy drawing tablet that hooks to my computer, but I use my phone to draw. I have a really good program called Autodesk Sketchbook, and I just take a picture of my sketch, and draw over it with my finger in the program. It might take a while to get used to, because you have to try and avoid shaky lines, although there are tools that help balance them out into neat, smooth lines. I thought that this might be helpful to those who don't have a computer or drawing tablet.

Yes this is very helpful for drawing my sona. I had to make multiple drawings for my wings and tail due to the non symmetrical patterning of the feathers

this just helped me make my fursona yay. im new in all things fur and since i had a tiny bit of skill from drawing a few years back from hand it wasnt too hard to use the tools to edit the reference and even draw things from scratch like her accessories. I love how it turned out! hopefully soon i can get a badge commission with my reference sheet. ill be making my suit myself cuz im an overachiever and im going all in lol wish me luck

I have been in the fandom for 289 days, and I have had so much trouble finding my fursona. I have made 100+ oc's and ugh it's just to much! Recently I came across the manokits and just fell in love! See, I have been drawing sence I could hold a pencil, and I cant explain how much stress I had trying to draw a manokit! I honestly still cant draw one, and am afraid to go on Google to look for inspiration because I will feel less proud of myself if I do go on Google. I already have a name for her, and a fur pattern, but I just can't draw her! I just hope I wont call her my fursona, get bored with her ina few days, and forget about her. I have always done that. With every single OC I have made. That's why I cant find my fursona 😪 sorry for wasting your time on my rambling about my stress.

Samalamb Bases on DeviantArt makes really great bases, but they aren't for reference sheets. Also! For those who don't have tolerance for their magic wand tool, simply go to the 'select' tab and expand the selection by around 3-7 pixels!

I gave up on attempting to make a character around 3 years ago due to my lack of drawingskills but this video explained it so well that i think i could actually create my own character i've had stuck in my head in lines, colours and fluff. (owo) Thank you so much and i'll keep watching all your vids since i never comment on them but been watching since just before you started your bottle episodes.

This helped so much. I didn't know there was free base references out there. So I now have thrown together my first quick OC reference so that one day I can maybe go get an original one as well as some other art commissioned.

I actually (read: sadly) use a mouse for my art and boy howdy it's a bit difficult. Luckily, tools like the undo button, stabilizers on pens, the smudge tool and transformer tools exist. Though I'm pretty proud of my art rn, it's still clear what the limitations are. Things like line thickness variation, painting-style coloring or shading, and identical shapes (without copy+pasting) are extremely hard to pull off P.S. don't look at my KZread to see what my art looks like that's old stuff. All my current stuff is on my instagram

Some things I’d like to add, medibang and firealpaca are great programs to use on the computer! (Or medibang on a phone) I also recommend using large canvases (like 3000*3000) with a dpi of 300. Larger canvases will have better resolution!

I already have a fursona/main oc and their rival/counterpart,(plan to have a fewmore)but I'm still watching this,Pocari! I need to make a reference sheet for both of them still,I have their color schemes pretty much all sorted out.

If you use procreate like me there’s a layer option called “reference layer” set that on your lineart and then if you use the color drop under your lineart it will fill in the lineart ^^ and if you use alpha lock you can only color on the place you colored
