I really hope that you’ll never get stuck with your shirt in this lathe chuck. There‘s areason why wood turning chucks have four clamps which don‘t come out of the chuck. What you do is quite dangerous. Please replace that thing before you got hurt.

@@Wood_Work_Easy ' Unfortunately, I don't have enough resources to replace it.' They aren't wrong really, since you're working so much close to the chuck. You have mounting holes and rails just below the chuck, I'd make a U shaped cover that slides on, has pins for the holes, then clamps to the rails. That way it would be fast to put on and take off, but still keep you from getting caught up in the chuck.
