This showed up in my feed a year after it was posted... I maintained a bunch of these years ago. They were installed in a bunch of fire houses. The electrode assemblies are considered a maintenance item. It's cool watching you figure this stuff out in real time. I remember moments of myself going through this stuff back in the day...

Those are a kinda a different thing to work on. Takes a bit to understand there wiring diagram. I have learned you can diagnose almost everything from the terminal strip. Up here where we have snow storms lots of blowing snow. That exact burner control will get snow melting on it it gets wet and I don't have to say anymore lol. The holes in the burner generally need a drill bit run through them yearly to remove rust. I'm sure it's from blowing snow.

Yes, the make up air also has to have an exhaust fan with an air proving switch in series with the make up air unit, so the exhaust fan must be running for the make up air to fire up

These are commonly used in kitchens as make-up air for the exhaust hoods, so the air being brought in usually goes right back out very quickly.

It has 100% combustion its 100% efficient. Bc of the amount of outdoor air entering the burner not bc the exhaust fan is on..it doesn't matter..they ha e these on huge warehouses...

Flame looked terrible. Clean out orifices in he manifold and inspect the burner for cracks in the metal. If there are cracks in the 'V' shaped piece it will disrupt the flame profile

I had one of these on a lab. The manager of the lab told my installers where to put the vents. This included vents on the end caps. The MU air unit was intermittently shutting down on static pressure issues. I go into the lab and the manager is bitching at me due to repeated issues. I look at the duct work and ask him why the told my guys to put vents on the end caps. He said “that’s where I work”. Then I say “you caused the problem”. I remove the vents and cap them. No more problems. You can have too much supply on those units. Stay safe.

I worked on the exact same unit that was installed for a paint booth. It couldn't satisfy set point. Never worked on one before that day. OMG it sucks to learn under the gun. Luckey they weren't in dire need of it, went home downloaded the manual, watched a couple videos to understand how to check gas pressure differential....ended up being supply regulator was never big enough from the install.
