Make Turbine Pinwheels - Amazing Coke Can Project
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Turbine Pinwheels! Dialed In version of the basic pinwheels - make something new that can be used for fun and decoration! This is not your ordinary craft project. In this video I will teach you how to turn a drink can into a turbine fan / pinwheel. We will then get more Dialed In and make three different ways to display them; hangers (hang from a tree, a balcony, a plant…), table top displays (perfect for picnics, BBQs, parties and more) and even put them on a stick so that they can be used for silly fun (just remember that these are aluminum cans so they can be sharp; caution is advised). The handle version can be pushed into the ground, sand, potted plant or anything else that can hold them up or they can be attached to a place that gets a good breeze… perhaps the back of a bike. Just put these in the path of a slight breeze, a fan or even a strong wind and watch them spin.
I had fun getting creative with some spray paint and came up with some festive decorations. This turned out to be a great way to recycle or repurpose some aluminum cans. Actually, everything that I used in this video was a repurposed item so my cost to make a bunch of these was FREE! Yep, 100% completely FREE! The key materials that I used were as follows:
- Aluminum Cans (rinsed and dried)
- Metal coat hangers (the kind that come from the cleaners)
- Tape or beads (used as spacers beneath the pinwheel)
- Spray paint (I just grabbed leftover materials from other projects)
- Dowel rod or stick (optional for mounting as a handle)
- Wood blocks (optional for mounting as table top displays)
Tools that I used include:
- Masking tape (for laying out cut lines)
- Box cutter (for cutting the can)
- Marker (for tracing out the cut lines)
- Wire cutters & pliers (for cutting and shaping clothes hangers)
- Hole punch (like an ice pick) or nail (to make small hole in top and bottom of each can)
- Drill (for making holes in optional handles or table top displays)

No matter what your purpose is in making pinwheels this method is a fun, craft - like project that is great for making something new out of something disposable. Pretty cool!

End note: I love taking a project and continuing to seek ways to expand or improve upon it and that is exactly how I came up with this Turbine design. That is why I am “Dialed In DIY;” because I like to get creative and keep Dialing In my projects and designs. This is stuff that I really enjoy doing and I simply hope that you are able to get some enjoyment from the videos and/or projects as well! Thank you for watching…. I greatly appreciate your support!

Thanks and yes! :-) I have a couple of ideas that I have been experimenting with for using pinwheels in other projects... beyond the "decoration" kind of ideas mentioned in the video (I made a bunch of these for outdoor table top decorations... sort of a fun, festive summertime thing).
Hello, why don't you use it as a Maglev windmil to generate energy ? Multiple in parallel above each other.. Why not ? Just leaving it here

Thank you very much for the feedback... I had to re-listen to some of it to double check but yep,.. I cringe on some of these when I hear them again. I used to record voice late at night and would try to be quiet so that I did not wake anyone up in the house. It sounds like I was going for some kind of late night radio voice but that was not the goal... LOL! Thanks for watching the video too!!

Hey, your voice sounds like the character named Spike from the anime show called "Cowboy Bebop" ! are you the english dub voice of Spike Spiegel? xD (Spike is kind of a bad*ss so this is meant to be a compliment)

Totally wish I was a voice actor (it is one of my dream jobs) but sadly, no. Either way I would take it as a compliment so thank you very much! Thanks for watching and for the comment!!
why not wear work gloves for folding? nice idea though
Have you figured out how to turn it into a wind turbine?

I put an axle in one and hooked it up to a mounted motor (small motor) and was able to get some power flow from the motor contacts. I just have not taken it past that step. Were you going to give it a try? Thanks for taking time to post a comment.

@@DialedInDIY Not yet. I was wondering if you could use a 12 volt battery and dc converter and somehow get electric from the pinwheel.

Hmmm... I'm curious. Nine as in "no?" 9 out of 10? Either way, thanks for taking time to watch and post a comment.
