MAKE THIS SEQUENTIAL SHIFTER USB | DIY SIM RACING
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Easy DIY USB Sequential Shifter for Sim Racing. This basic Sequential shifter is made by modding an existing arcade joystick. The design also has minimal fabrication, is neat, cheap and compact.
It is USB, stand alone and can be used in combination with any steering wheel combination - Logitech, G25, G27, G29, G920, Thrustmaster, Fanatec, or OSW.
The wires can be soldered to switchs, but shown as plug in to keep it easy for people without access to soldering irons.
The joystick from standard has little resistance, and needs to be modded to be functional as a sequential.
By relocating the standard plastic ring under the metal plate it increases some of the force to shift. The rubber O ring and carbon plate add more resistance. The carbon also finishes off the top nicely.
Lower spring could also be upgraded to a higher strength item.
Try different thickness O rings / rubber fuel hose, ect under the carbon plate to adjust resistance of lever to your liking.

I did it today.... But with some little changes. The round zippy plastic cover I putted over the metal plate. But most important its a Oring of 25x3mm putted behind the joystick over the 2x4x8 plastic so the shifter get harder.. where I can send you photos?

I am just wondering about 1 thing: could u have connected the sequential gear the same way u did with the diy handbrake? By using a keyboard PCB? and what about a rig/desktop showcase video?
@amstudioprojects

Yes can use a keyboard PCB as well

Awesom. Keep up the good vids
Amazing! Thank you
Hats off... great idea.
great video bud! hey was the M10 adapter custom taped for the joystick thread or were you able to order it somewhere?
good job with the sequential shifter 😉
Looks neat. Those extra micro switches can make a handbrake mod.
cool. i'm trying to make one similar to your analog handbrake mod. just waiting for more parts to arrive in the mail.
Man you are a god diy for sim racing im a french and i love you :) but the H-Shifter is the next ? :) :) Respect and continue you'r vidéo
Wow man! you are king! +1sub
Thanks made this and works great
I guess no problem to connect it with arduino instead an arcade usb interface right? Great channel, love to see more projects in future (I also have an E36 dash on the way :D). Ty for sharing!
I've done mine, thanks a lot!
you could also make this a handbrake
Cool mate, cheers, AussieStig
found you on reddit. Subbed!
Actually doing this rn and gonna laser cut a box to make it look good for my new setup (thx for the diy idea)
Nice video again. I got a question, not about this thing but in general. Which GPU do you have? Maybe I want 3 monitors for racing too.
Hey! Love your videos! But I have a quick question, can you sell these things? Because i'm interested in the handbrake and the speedometer!
so awesome! im going to build this. how did you mount this?
Did you mount that to the edge of the table and if you did then can you share how? Don't want to drill anything to the table so I was thinking about some sort of clamp setup but have not figured out a good solution yet.
Loving you video's, great work :) Out of interest, what monitors are you using there, the thin bezels are very nice!

Thanks, using 27" LG IPS LED Monitors
super !!!! nice !!!
I love it I gonna do it
Is soldering something like this into the g29 pretty straight forward? I have a PS4 and not a PC so I doubt USB devices will work in the same way which means I'd have to incorporate them into the G29. I have watched a few of your videos and am being inspired to better my own setup using your methods.
Love this! Great work! Could you make a PS4 version tutorial?
Hey! I was wondering if you still had this shifter and if it would be possible to get a couple of pictures showing where you tucked the board and how you mount it. Also was wondering where did you get the plate for it?
i love your vids. nice and quality. please make e-shifter :)
A video about screw and unscrew. Amazing
Great! support for mounting at desk or Playseast ?
Great just fantastic , could you please da a video on how to wire / solder the correct way rotary dials , / to a board , I always get confused when I do it , thank you very much love your work .:)
Hi imterested in using this for my Logitech G27 sequential shifter. I already know where to solder onto the G27, but on the joystick I was trying to figure out where would my soldering points would be, but i guess i can just connect the wires like you did in the video, and then just solder them to the G27.
@amstudio Amazing! Nice work. I own the Logitech G920, do you know if it's possible to wire the paddle shifter buttons in the PCB to be used with this shifter? I know it's possible to wire some other buttons but not these ones. Thank you!
I use the same system to make a hand brake, but it does not work at all games. Could you explain how to make it work with g27 / 29 / etc?
Thanks for sharing!! Awesome work as usual! When i'm done with the handbrake i'll start with this one!!
Very Nice Build 👍🏼, do you "have another link" for Gear Shifter Knob & Carbon Fibre Plate ??
A few of the pieces are no longer available from the links you provided is there a chance we could have a parts list and go searching for them as well? Thank you for the video, help and your time!!!
What do you think about your Logitech shifter in comparison to this one? I’m looking to get a shifter and would like it to be sequential so I would end up modding the Logitech. Thanks for your input!
im about to start this actually...so this will work with thrustmaster as well..you will have to take the wheel apart and solder the switch wires to the corrisponding shift paddle..but really do able. i'll respond when im done...
Awesome job. The Carbon plate link is no longer available any clue where to find it? Also would you pls tell me how did you sitck the joystick to the desk? Cheers!
NICE!!!! thx
Hello, once you wire it up and plug it into the usb, how do you set the switch to the button you want to use in game
super nice vids
I know you didn’t used to do voice overs. But now could you put a transcript in the description of what you would have said on your older videos.
Can you put links to where you buy all of the stuff? Btw great video's man! keep it up!!!!

i made a sequential shifter using a keyboard i found at the thrift store. I've succesfully completed a fully DIY cardboard racing sim rig. using cardboard, hot glue, tape, a computer mouse (wheel) pedals (Bluetooth xbox remote) and shifter ($3 keyboard)
Can you make a video on Dials with (hands I guess) don't know the name. Like a real tach. Awesome vid man

amstudio is it possible to wire a momentary switch to the square button on the Logitech g29?
I finally completed this build! Thanks so much Except I really had no way of finding the screw thread so I just had to use one of the adaptors with my stick, hammer it in, and hope it stays (it still is). Pl can u link the screw thread adapter?

Yes I’m struggling to find that too. Stopped my build
What thread size is the mountig for the shiftknob Did you made the adapder by yourslef
make karting wheel please! awesome work
Where did you get your bolt from to extend the shaft height?
if someone extend the down shaft, and makes a 6 slots base with some sort of hold it place mechanism, could it be a potencial six speed shifter too?
Love it, but why go thru the trouble of removing the switches instead of just leaving them disconnected?
What model of LG monitors are you using for your setup? Is the center one debezeled, or is it just overlapping the side ones?
Hi, can tell me where i can buy the extension male female for gear knob? Thx.
I was wondering, since the shifters basically is programmed to go up or a down a gear based on two button inputs, what if you turn those USB programmable keypads that are 2 buttons, into a lever based mechanism in a box? You could even use a gear or pulley system to mechanically move connected levers and joints to press said button, or it could be a 3d printed project. Something akin to those Sega Arcade driving shifters for Initial D. 3D print an enclosure, use more Springs and joints to determine how a lever moves and is pushed back to neutral.
Now i need to find that gate for the joystick
How do you compare the feeling of this to the t8ha in sequential mode?
Please tell me hows the feel of it, im currently using a joystick as a shifter/handbrake, does this have a better "feel" when ripping it on track?
You r awesome plz tell which wheel you were using
Does this work as a 2 input switch? Is there a spot to wire it directly to something, or do you HAVE to use the PCB?
What size hole did you make on the carbon plate Thanks
Hello this shifter is compatible with thrumaster tmx?
if you can sale this thing all in 1 ready to plug in how much would you sale 1?
Can i wire it directly into the wheel? X and b button for gear shift or down
Where did you get the tapered thread to internal thread bolt?
what was that thread adapter you put on for the shift knob?
Love this mod, but on assetto corsa only one button is assign for up and down, if use this don't use the paddle on the wheel correct ?
Bro im gonna try to do the same but in gonna wire it directly(soldering) to the paddles of a thrustmaster ferrari 458 spider rig and since it's the cheapest one rig on the market and i have one also a t3pa laying around it might be the only way to save this oldie rig...hey bro, is that a sanwa arcade joystick? because i found plenty on my country ..how bout the weld idea @Amstudio? im never did it yet but as ive seen some vids here on KZread it seems to be a little easy...would you believe is it gonna work on my xbox one bro?please keep up with this amazing and clarify vids👏👏👏👏👏😉 greetings from 🇧🇷
what was used for the extension looking to make the joystick a bit more longer
Can you also connect this one to a thrustmaster t150pro by using a 6-pin DIN cable?
@amstudio would it be possible to plug this into the up and down ports on the board?
What did you use in clamping the joystick to the table?
Please show how you set the shifter on table
