Make Them Miss Boxing Stance | Why You Don't Square Off In a Fight

Make Them Miss Boxing Stance. Why You Don't Square Off in a Fight. Tom Yankello of the World Class Boxing Channel is back with his former IBF World Champion, Paul Spadafora to explain how to make them miss boxing stance. Tom has Paul display how this is one of the most advantageous boxing stance. While he teaches this boxing stance in the southpaw position, this can also be performed by the orthodox fighter. He explains why you don't square off in a fight, but rather be a half a man so you are hiding half of your body in a fight. Tom shows you some examples on why this boxing stance is beneficial. For example, he explains why this stance makes it hard for your opponent to hit you because it puts you at an angle. So when the guy is trying to get on the inside of you, your boxing stance has you at an angle, making it difficult for him to hit you. He also explains if your opponent tries to go on the outside, how you can parry the right hand and throw the left hand over top. He goes on to show you that when your opponent moves to the right, how you can drop and pivot in this boxing stance and disappear from being in front of your opponent, yet setting you up in a great position to counter. Tom also goes over the proper footwork for this boxing stance. He ends the video with explaining the critical hand placement necessary to put you in the best position to defend and counter.

This is the best video breaking down the mechanics of intelligently relinquishing lead foot position outside position in open stance. The absence of a full technical tutorial is the biggest need in boxing training, online and in person.

Many think Ricardo Lopez had one of the best stances ever with level shoulders and often the left shoulder down. He would even pop it to make it more relaxed. If the left shoulder is raised with effort, there will be imbalance somewhere in the body and tension to maintain it.
