That would suck. VR is already hard to program for, but now we have to develop games for different types of PC's AND VR headsets? I'd rather go back to mobile app development.

I don't know about that though, standardizing parts would be a big pain. In addition, just like mice and controllers, ergonomics doesn't come easy on DIY parts...

I ended up getting a VRcover (of course they released the v2 interface afterwards) and the VRcover headstrap along with the studioform headstrap. I think it's a good middle ground between strapping a rock to your head and strapping a DAS to your Quest.

Got my quest @ 8:30 this morning. Outside of my Daydream, this is my first VR purchase. While it was charging, went to walmart and addressed every issue you just talked about. And used something craft materials to REALLY mkae it my own. I call it my "Black Wolf Special"! Thanks for all the cool ideas!

i just got the studioform index bundle with the counterweight and apache strap. I highly recommend even though the Index is already pretty comfortable as is.

The Quest is great and the issues don't really nullify how great of a first VR experience it is. if you already had a Vive or something i wouldn't bother but if you have nothing it's awesome

@@themamic1843 In Oculus settings somewhere, I don't remember where(it might be in beta?) turn on double menu button press to toggle passthrough. Works on Rift S and Quest I believe.

If you turn off the Guardian, which I think a lot of experienced players end up doing once totally accustomed to their playspace, you lose passthru capability as well; and I assume he's also checking on the recording progress.

the fairly new strap systems now have one of those dial adjusters like a bike helmut. I'm perplexed that they don't build a head-strap that has 2 or 3 dial adjusters so that it's a breeze to adjust in each direction. And/or... if VR headsets had a quick release from the straps we could have more than one strap system allowing for 'sharing' without re-adjusting the straps each time which is a total fun killer when sharing with friends that are newbies and don't know the best feel or position for the VR (then force us to find our sweet-spot adjustment repeatedly each time.

Definitely appreciate the video! Helps solve a lot of problems with the Quest... and for cheap? Helping the bank!

For the long chord issue I just ordered a short 4 pole headphone chord on amazon for literally $2 and it sounds amazing. (Not to mention silicon inserts never stay in my ears regardless of size)

??? you play clothed??? real answer: never worked, I always had to tie it to my headset, but I used little rubber latched snap buttons that were easily removeable/reusable rather than something like zipties or bad knots.

Decided to get into the VR world after building new gaming PC (which is kinda portable) lol Bingewatched all the videos on your channel and this Quest that you showed today will be my way to get into VR Amazing content!

I simply grabbed a DAS for mine, 3D printed some knuckles-like attachments for the controllers and will probably also get a VR cover for it later and I'm really happy with it :D

I stg the top comment on every vr video is like “omg I’m getting a quest Omg omg”

I am 100% with you, on too much crap on my head when I use nice headphones. It is like have the entire PC on my head. May as well be Dark helmet.

I played with my brother's oculus and loved it. I had to remove my glasses because the eyeglass mount still had both lenses very close, and I don't want to scratch either lenses. PS I love you're rock counter weight, brilliant!

Thank you so much for making a video like this, though i wont be following this to exact amounts some of the things like the headphones and the face cover i have been trying to find for good prices and this helped me a lot, especially the handles for the controllers since i will soon be using oculus link for things like boneworks, and its really good idea to have those kinds of handles anyway due to my grip getting tired or sweaty palms

It's nice to hear I don't have to spend as much as you did with the "excess quest", when I do get a Quest myself. $100 or less extra to make it more comfortable and more battery life? Definitely worth it.

Adding a battery pack as a counterbalance is probably the best tip I've ever gotten from KZread. My VR sessions are much more comfortable now!

The idea of using a portable charger as a counter weight / extra battery is genius! I never would have thought of. I already own a large portable charger, but I'm constantly having problems with the front-heavy oculus quest 2 so this was the solution I was looking for. You sir just saved me £100 on the elite strap and now I have more battery than the official oculus one would have provided. Thanks again 😁

I managed to do some of these things you suggested buying things for, for free on my quest 1. I twisted the default wrist strap around itself and hooked the end of it into the tip of the battery cover and slid it onto the controller trapping the end of the strap roughly where one side of my hand is. im not sure how exactly to describe what i did, hope thats good enough but its basically strapped the controller to my hand and its loose enough to slip on when i want and tight enough to hold the controller onto my hand when i dont want it to slip off. i also managed to use a small microfibre cloth i had laying around and folded it over a bit, sat it on my nose (careful to not block my nostrils or else it would be sending hot, moist air up into the lenses) and put the headset on and that made it slightly more comfortable around my nose area and blocked out all of the outside light with a little bit of adjusting.

My only Christmas wishlist items this year are a Quest, the face cover, and the battery pack. Wish me luck.

I have always advocated counter weight, but after going several weeks with and without a "top strap", I honestly believe that makes an even bigger difference. And they cost a couple of American Dollars on AliExpress. I'm taking about the strap that goes from one ear over the top of the head to the other ear (UNDER the Quest middle/top strap).

For audio, I bought a tiny maybe 3 inch cable for my M50Xes that works really well with the quest. You should give it a shot, it's called the "Wireless Conversion Kit Short Cable for Bose SoundTrue II Around-Ear QC25 OE2 Audio-Technica Sennheiser Headphones/Bluetooth Adapter Cable/Bluetooth Receiver Connection Cable"

Just waiting on my Quest VRcover replacement that I ordered a week or two ago. Already have one for my Index.

I use my quest 2 with a 10000mAh and my seinheiser 600HDs. Just use a cable tie on the cord and stick it under the headphone headband where the little grooves are. Works amazingly. I can get about 10 hours of playtime and get really good audio quality. Im going to buy some grips for my controllers for sure.

Just a quick tip: they just added bluetooth pairing in the experimental mode so it's probably going to be improved and fully added. If you have bluetooth headphones laying around just use those.

At first I strapped a dummy grenade shell to the back of mine (it was laying around) but ended up buying a pack of fishing weights, clipping off the loops then painting them matte black. Works awesome and still fits in that travel case. Bought those headphones too but holy CRAP are they ever bassy. The quest really needs a headphone equalizer.

ive been bingeing these vids lately but i gotta know. where is this channel from? cos you provide lots of prices but i dont know what currency you use

I bought the heaviest 30000 Powerbank and I attached to it and to the quest back Velcro tapes. It’s incredibly comfortable and my battery can last about 10 hours of straight gameplay

A roll of quarters works really well as a counter weight. One roll is $10 & 226.8 grams. $13 worth is about 300grams and you can spread out the extra $1.50 on each side. Oh, and elastic shoelaces for a janky elastic solution that also works well (if you don’t have issues with the battery covers coming off)

Kiwi straps and face interface were the first things I bought when I got my quest, I now consider both to be essential. However, after 4 months of use the straps have begun to fail. The rubber bands connecting the strap to the controller snapped on one hand and the velcro doesn't really stick together on either hand anymore. Also the velcro pads on the face interface tend to get loose after some intense beat sabering (the glue on the pads gets soft). I'm probably going to buy a vr cover and mamut instead ;)

Audio seems fine to me, comfort is a bit annoying but sorta fine. The best mod I found was the grip controllers, I found the quest controllers too small and not having to hold the controller is a huge advantage
