    Hi Helen it's Rosemary I wanted to let you know I found a Asian market in Gardena California on Artesia Blvd. Ranch market.....they have Kombu or kelp in there. Fresh seafood and sliced pork. There's another market in Carson CA. on main Street and Carson Street seafood City, they have Korean radish. Just to get started. I'm gathering my ingredients since my stroke. My daughter loves this dish but it's too expensive for us to continue to eat this out. Therefore thank you so much for sharing and all that you do. Stay safe.

    For the cooking channel whatever it is now or both needs to give this woman her own cooking show. She's just so sweet adorable and likable her videos are beautiful her food is beautiful and looks so delicious and I've made a few of her recipes now since I started watching a couple months ago and the recipes are amazing the homemade kimchi I made that was the first thing I made and it turned out spectacular it's been fermenting it's on its third week now I ate some of it yesterday with some rice and she was right after it from us for a little while the cabbage has a sweet aftertaste and it's just amazing of course I didn't make mine is spicy as she makes hers because it was my first time making it and I just wanted to see how spicy the pepper flakes would end up being in there so I just made it pretty mild compared to what she makes hers but it's still delicious nonetheless. One of my favorite parts about watching her videos is watching her eat it at the end. I know on the food Network a lot of the female Cooks they'll take a bite and start chewing but they spit it out off camera but she doesn't do that and that's one of the things I like about watching her video as opposed to watching shows on the food Network and the cooking channel. Like Giada de Laurentiis she spits her food out off camera so that she doesn't gain weight. It's very sad!! I love her I've been watching her since I was a teenager but it's sad that she makes all that beautiful food and spits it out off camera. And as we can all see beautiful Helen here eats her food but she's not fat. In over the years I kind of feel like Giada has gotten way too skinny she needs to stop spitting out her food. And if you notice Helen has eaten basically this entire bowl of soup. And you can tell that there are no outtakes of her spitting it out off camera she is actually swallowing it. But Koreans eat very healthy food to begin with and especially with all the kimchi that they eat it helps their digestion process so it's not sitting and festering in their guts causing them to gain all kinds of unwanted weight.Lol and I love at the end how she says I haven't had lunch yet and I'm starving even though she's already eating this whole bowl of soup 😆😆 eat baby food is loving your body. And no I'm not a fat girl. But I am Sicilian and I love to feed people just like she does. And I love to eat myself but I can only eat like small servings at a time but I eat like maybe five small servings in a day.

    Hi Helen. Would adding fish sauce instead of more salt at the end there to your liking alter the taste or would you just recommend salt if it’s not salty enough? Thanks! LOVE your videos!

  • @ModernPepper

    @ModernPepper

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi Truly -Y 👋Excellent question! For me, I would rather use salt to season, if I want to make it taste saltier. U can use some fish sauce, if u prefer, but I don’t bcuz the fish sauce will not just make it salty in taste but will add different flavors to the soup. I usually add more Dashida (anchovy Dashida if I’m making seafood soup or beef Dashida if I’m making beef or pork soup) and/or salt to season my salty preference. U can find Dashida (Korean bouillon powder) at any Korean market. OR order it online. The product link is in the description box of this video and also at www.ModernPepper.com/store Thank you for cooking Korean food with me and for your support🙏

    👋Vernon Kamiaz 🙏 Thank you🙏 I believe I used pork shoulder (thinly sliced). Yes, u can make this 🌱 Vegan. I would flavor the broth with the Vegan ‘Fish’ sauce (recipe is included in Vegan Kimchi recipe below) or with all the ingredients in this recipe (minus the dried anchovies for the broth, seafood and pork). I would add mushroom BulGoGi if u want to mimic a ‘meaty’ taste. Can you use chicken stock in lieu of the combination of anchovy/radish/don’t recall the name of the leaf?

    @@JOA-r4v👋 Absolutely yes! Just add less of the 🌶 pepper paste mixture, adjust to ur spicy taste preference. As for the using chicken broth instead of the anchovy broth, u can give it a try and see if u like it. (FYI - traditionally, soft tofu stew isn’t made with chicken broth.). If u use the Anchovy Dashida bouillon powder to season the stew, it will take it up a notch😋 (Dashida link is in the recipe blog, if u can’t get to a Korean market.) Here is the written Soft Tofu recipe www.modernpepper.com/post/korean-tofu-stew Thanks for cooking Korean food with me🙏

    👋Lin Bd If u want to use the fish sauce instead of the dried anchovies, just add very little bit of it bcuz it is salty and very strong. I would start with 1/2 teaspoon or less.

    Hi K👋. Thanks for watching and also for this comment. In the states, steamed soybean blocks are called tofu. (Unfortunately, the Korean word 두부 is not recognized as tofu.) YES, u r correct! Korean word for tofu is DuBu 두부. @ 1:00 of this video, dubu 두부 is noted both in English and Korean. Also noted in the title of this video and also in the description box.
