Make Realistic Pokemon using Blender

Фильм және анимация

In this video I'm going to use #blender to #sculpt a new realistic #pokemon!
Today's Pokemon will be Wartortle, the middle evolution for the starter Squirtle.
Stick around to the end to see the final renders.

Very insightful! As someone who’s not the best as sculpting or modeling, I appreciate the opportunity to see the creation of a realistic Pokémon in this way. Looking forward to the next video! :D

Thanks Wiimonkey. I'm glad you got something out of it. I've already done the texturing work and I'm working on editing the video. So it shouldn't be too long a wait!

That is really awesome! The final turntable with the keylighting looks so realistic! How much time do you think went into making this and also making the video?

Thanks Lukas. There's around two months worth of sculpting, retopology and rigging that went into this one - working on it a couple of hours most days. Making the actual video...a little under two weeks I think.

@@murdocklesban6836 That's....actually a really good question. I must confess, I'm not 100% sure. My understanding is that GPUs are mostly used in rendering. So a good GPU will give you amazing performance in Cycles. But the CPU is still mostly used for actual modelling and sculpting. RAM is also quite important for sculpting with a lot of polygons. The more RAM, the more Blender can hold in memory, and the higher your polycount should be able to go.

@@JamieDunbar i knew about that i have ryzen 5 with 64 ram , i can get 50 millons poligons to work in blender with some kind of lag . How many millions you can get with you machine ?

@@murdocklesban6836 Oh nice! Yeah 50million is getting into my upper limits. I think I've pushed it to 80million or so, but that definitely starts to lag. I did that on my Charmeleon sculpt to add some incredibly fine details like veins on the arms. But I wouldn't want to be doing a lot of work at that level. The lag was really starting to annoy me.
