I grew up poor too. One of six and I can’t finish a product normal. I stop using the best ones too. I broke out last week because I stopped using my glow serum. Yes I do think it’s made me look at things differently.

I feel like there’s good and bad parts to it. I wish I was a bit more normal about finishing …perishables lol. But I am glad I understand what it’s like to not have money, both in terms of appreciation for my own life and sympathizing with others. There’s always good and bad to everything, isn’t there! 🤔

I love the essence toner to add hydration between steps in the morning. My favourite calming product when I have a rosacea or dermatitis breakout is a locally (Australian) made probiotic based cream with sage oil and it settles issues overnight, typically I’m ok with essential oils but there is something I havn’t pinned down yet which sets off my skin and I find if I avoid anything with undefined ‘fragrance’ or ‘parfum’ I do ok. There must be an SPF filter too as a lot of chemical or hybrid SPFs I can only use 2-3 days in a row before swapping to something else for sensitive spots, I can’t use Zinc oxide though as my skin just turns to a desert lol. It’s so interesting how different everyone’s skin is.

The Essence Toner is working well for me and is one of my favorites. And the huge bottle for the price is great for my limited income. My skin is dry, super sensitive, and aging quickly. I apply at least three thin layers of it every time I use it. It’s a great product for me. Bergamot, sage, lavender, any citrus, tea tree, eucalyptus, and terpenes are red flags for me.

  • @AliceintheRabbitHole

It never ceases to amaze me how much more a couple layers of toner does. I see a lot of people asking for more hydrating products, but I’m starting to believe that’s the trick: less about the specific product, more about the method/layering. But yes great choice for it as it’s a very affordable price per oz!

As far as the toner goes, I've tried it and think it's ok, but its one of those "hydration only" toners for me. Honestly I understand that more every day. It’s so frustrating to deal with reactions!! Yeah, I love the ingredients on the bottle. Less waste too - I wish it was the norm (but apparently people like boxes, same reason brands use jars. Who are these people that like these things lol!)

@AliceintheRabbitHole It takes so much time to repair even after using the wrong product just a few times. And there's always a small chance the inci list has changed since you bought it! I've learned the hard way some companies are not vocal about their reformulations

Then my antiaging add ons such as ginseng and my peptides and wonder what am i missing or what is a waste or what can i ditch and upgrade. Happy with cleansing prroducts toners and misturizers and B oil may switch to stratia fortify but i think i need a ginseng essence and a peptide serum. Anyone ideas ? Oh and i live my sunscreens.

I definitely understand that! It’s how I’ve concluded that I don’t really need to worry about AHA, and even algae has moved down in priority (while ginseng moved up). I think it’s a continuous process of figuring out both where our skin is and what it needs!

Hallo Alice, so true. I was given a vit C and I looked for no grapefruit and barley ( any glutens) well they used a different scientific name my bad for not researching better and I did not muscle test before. Well this vit c eye cream did some amazing things 🥴. I love exfoliating and raw dry red peeling skin look. Will I ever learn ? The answer is no I guess . So yes I completely understand one must not go by the product name . But I love skincare and kinda fun in a not fun reason to use stuff to calm my angry 😡 skin. 😂 Thank you so important to read and understand what we are using.

I need to get a new hydrating toner I just finished my cosrx proplolis toner cica fit toner and my Niod Mist is almost gone and I'm running low here using stuff up. LoL I need to restock and stop with the makeup crap. I didn't grow up poor but I still hate using up stuff and I don't get the project pan stuff I would have a aniexty attack getting low on stuff especially if it was a limited edition thing u can't get anymore or using everything up around the same time ..idk why it gives me anxiety. I looked up that safe me cream and ampoule before and was what is up with those ingredients in a line that is supose to be for sensitive skin ?

Omggggg same. I could never do project pan. In fact, when I’m going through eyeshadow, I’ll intentionally dip my brush on the outside of the pan so it looks even 🤣 when I see project panners with the dips in their eyeshadows, I’m always over here going “oh no it’s so uneven 😅” I respect the project pan world, but I could never do it. All panning is organic (and a little sad!) for me lol
