About to use same dehydrator for onions. Never did this before. I got some good tips but if nothing else I will be doing it on a table out back. Would have never thought of it. Probably would have done it in garage and regretted it. Thanks!

You dont need a dehydrator just use a wok and use semolina and then add onions, then use a seive to remove onions from semolina, also doesn't take 24 hrs either. When done grind, perfect onion powder. This method has been used in India before dehydrators had ever been thought of, and still used today.

Have you ever tried vacuum sealing your onion powder in case you don't use it as much? Larry

I made the mistake of dehydrating Walmart dill in my kitchen. The gross smell lasted for weeks. Nice catch on doing it outdoors.

So I just found your channel by wondering whether or not to blanch my greenbeans. Needless to say I subscribed and know what I'll be binge watching all weekend. You rock bud, thank you for the educational vids. Oh and I'm pretty cl9se to the great lakes as well, love it here except we only have 2 seasons. Winter and construction =(

After grinding, you can put it back into the dehydrator for 30 minutes or so to make sure the powder is bone dry.

Yes, but my dehydrator has a blower fan that would probably blow the powder all over the place.

Blanching, freezing or caramelizing the onions before dehydrating reduces or entirely eliminates the Onion Gas Chamber effect.

The stores sell onion powder and onion granulated powder. Its a preference of your choice. I prefer as you called it " flour" powder. 😂 The granulated doesn't dissolve well for me

As long as it's totally dry, it will last a good while. Its dryness is what preserves it, same with the onion powder you buy at the store.

Was für Maschinen, hahaha. Aber für die Zwiebel bezahlst du mindestens 4 Dollar. Billiger wird das nicht. Aber bessere Qualität…
