Make Noise QPAS Stereo Modular Synth Wonderpanel Demo
Being a demo of the Make Noise QPAS "Quad Peak Animation System". It's a wondrous stereo animator effect, masquerading as a quad analogue filter. It's quite a thing. LINKS IN DESCRIPTION ↴

Randomly got this out of some trading deal. At first i thought i was probably going to end up selling this.. but it quickly turned into one of my favorite modules!
This one goes right up there with the Atlantis and 0-Caost demoes. Damn that was amazing the whole time, banga after banga!!!

i love the qpas as well, and you really show how this module is a real musical satellite
Holy Cow. Best Demo of the QPAS. Think I have to try this myself.
Sold! I've been looking for a stereo filter to install next to my Jove. This is perfect and I think the hp space used is justified.
Around 23 minutes is like a lush Boards of Canada machine. Absolutely beautiful man!
Just ordered Qpas, wonderful demo! :)
Sehr kosmische. Early nineties ambient stuff too. This seems like a no-brainer if I were to return to Eurorack. The bit starting at 15:37 pleasantly evokes Skinny Puppy's "Worlock," too.
+1 for the Spiritualized reference. Love that record!
This is the very definition of "eargasm". I just cannot stop listening to the QPAS demos on loop. I want to finally build a modular system *just so* I can use the QPAS. Maybe I'm not as experienced, but personally QPAS is the most beautiful and melodic filter I've heard. The moment you give it a signal, it just wants to sing along.
Good job Mylar, I think I have to buy my first module in months
Was undecided on which stereo filter to get. This clinched it for me. Something about all the separate simultaneous outs along with all the expected AND odd modulation inputs, the simplicity of not having to decide what filter type goes into another whether parallel or in series, and the addition of that unique smile pass. I'm sure I can find a place in every patch for this whether front and center or subtly. Thinking of the nice separation I can get using the LP outs while using HP or BP going 100% wet into FXs. Or mono LP dry centered with BP stereo through a lush reverb. So many possibilities. I'm sold.

Yep this is it, I think this thing is at its subtlest an “effect”, so always worth having in a patch. At its most bonkers, it’s a filter too.
It's a fun name, like a q-pass filter, as if it filters out everything but the resonant peak factor, and it does sound really good, though sometimes almost weirdly soft
This video is absolute magic! Well done!!
Truly excellent video. Enjoyed so much.
Super impressed! Sure is fun watching and listening and learning..Your super tech.
Soooooo musical. Great demo of the Qpas universe of frequencies
The patch at 9:00 is so beautiful. I love watching you thinking a: i can't believe how amazing this sounds and b: lets not f this up. This is what makes analog so fun, always best to record everything.
Excellent work! Now I want a second one!
what a great video of a great module. excellent work mate.
great stuff, mylar, might have to grab one
I've had my Qpas for about a year now, and used it almost every time I patch. I've not had much fun with the !! inputs, though. Watching this video again gives me some fab ideas for patching to them. Thank you for this.

amazing demo!
I've been sitting on the fence with Qpas. I was in the market for a filter, though Qpas seems that and more. There are so many filters on the market, it seemed many sounded so similar that I kinda hit the wall researching. Qpas is unique and is set apart from what seems all others. Anyway, seeing you basically perform with just Qpas did it for me. Just purchased one. Thx!!

29:40 had no idea you were an AnCo fan. Always surprised how much our musical tastes overlap.

Nice video, thank you. Do you ever melt your patch cables with the candles?
How do route the qpas into a env? Are you using a stereo env? How do you record the stereo? Do you need a stereo mixer output module?
If you had to keep one filter, would it be the QPAS or the Jove? I'm still having problems with the QPAS. It just takes over every patch and makes everything sound like the QPAS. I think it might be too nice for me.

Curious did you buy the System80 880 or are you just getting to play it? If you did buy it, what was it that made it better than some other 808 module such as Tiptop?
@mylarmelodies
4 жыл бұрын
Got sent it to Beta test - I still have the Tiptop 808 modules and a Yocto I have yet to build! For me the 880 is amazing because you have the full, complete voice in analogue, in a tiny space, I think it's voiced spectacularly (eg the Clap especially is 🔥), and you can't get the full voice in euro elsewhere, only a handful of elements are in the TipTop range still, with the most notable absence of the clap and cymbal. It will support trigger ins via a module too, and it works with MIDI too!
Stupid beiinner question: what cable do you need to get audio from a mixer to your monitors?
@mylarmelodies

Depends on what connections the monitors and mixer has, but likely a balanced quarter inch jack to XLR male!

This module sounds so good I almost got rid of it. Everything sounded like QPAS at first. Take the time to learn to use it in subtle ways. If you don't, it will take over every patch. It is a marvelous thing. Make Noise is kind of messed up though. They do not have the ability to make a bad or even mediocre module. I keep on saying: "This is their Doolittle. They shot their load on this one, for sure. They'll never be able to top this." They prove me wrong every time. I can't wait until I can afford a Mimeophone. I will warp the fabric of spacetime with that thing.
