Make It Up As You Go | Loose Abstract Flowers with Acrylic Paint on Canvas

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This is more of a demo than a tutorial because I was just making it up as I went along. I suggest you try it - the results can be awesome or disastrous but either way you'll learn a lot! :)

Nice demo. Slow enough for those of us who are new to painting. Thank you so much for sharing~

Elle, I liked this one video! This is what my painting process looks like too many times. I keep working and adding more paint and then even more paint to my palette overdoing it. I feel like I'm wasting paint (which is a double whammy!). I end up very, very discouraged and wonder why I ever thought I could learn to paint. This may not be your favorite painting video, but I found it very encouraging. because painting is a lot of trial and error, and some good days and some not so good days. It expresses the 'freedom' we need and the permission to just sit down and play. Even an artist sometimes struggles with 'knowing' when to put down the brush and walk away. I think I can go a little easier on myself after seeing an artist 'just play'. Thanks for this video.

I'm glad it was helpful, Allie! I find that it helps me a lot if I think of all paintings as practice. I don't put so much pressure on myself that way.

This definitely helps me realize that we all struggle at times. We are our worst critics. What you see and how I see it are so different. It’s beautiful. You see your mistakes but I see all the nice strokes. I watch these and practice. It’s very helpful. I do have a question though. My size 8 brushes are way bigger than yours. Your brush looks like one of my size 4. Do different companies have different numbers for size? I wouldn’t have thought so but maybe? What is the brand of your brush? Thanks for sharing.

Painting is always a struggle.. I think that's why I always go back to it!! It's a challenge. I think brushes are standard but I use Liquitex Basics long handle if you want to check them out. www.dickblick.com/products/liquitex-basics-brushes/
