Four brake cables from a bicycle to actuate the claws. This lets you move freely without a solid linkage. All four are tied together on the wrist and pulled by a 2" long offcut of leadscrew from a 3D printer. The leadscrew is turned by a continuous rotation hobby servo. That way you get a good strong pull (50KG of force) and it can't be backdriven by pulling on the claws because of the leadscrew. I don't know where he'll find vibranium for the claw tips though :P. Perhaps tungsten carbide?

unless using product hair is surprisingly resistant to fire and fuels like that normally burn quite cool, and the twirling bit is quite easy (helps if you've ever had any experience fire twirling)
