Make Inexpensive Christmas Decor - Christmas Decor From Thrifted Items and Things From Nature

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This video will show you how to create beautiful Christmas decor using thrifted items and how to incorporate a few things from outdoors into your Christmas decor! I was recently inspired by another KZread creator, Lisa from Our Shabby Cottage, to create nativity scenes for Christmas. Although she used wood scraps to create hers I was inspired to create some of my own! For my nativity scenes I used thrifted signs from Goodwill! Using these old signs is an easy way to recycle and repurpose cheap items with minimal effort and cost. See how I flip these signs to the back side, give them a fresh coat of chalk paint, and decorate them with stencils, twigs from outdoors, and Christmas floral sprigs. As you will see in my video flipping these signs around gives a great backdrop for a Christmas stable perfect for creating a rustic nativity scene. The addition of stencils keeps this project simple and cheap and allows you to personalize each piece to fit your own decor style and color scheme. See how I gave a couple of the items a high end look by adding gold beaded trim to the corners to bring a little glam and sparkle for Christmas! To create a rustic look the use of sticks and twigs from outdoors was an easy addition - I only needed to measure and trim the sticks to create a "roof" for the stable and twigs were used to create a rustic cross for one of my pieces. You might also incorporate additional items from nature such as pine cones, evergreen sprigs, holly limbs, etc.

I loved all your work on your Channel. I like that you flip the old stuff and make it new again. Your attention to detail is amazing. Little tip for stenciling. I do this all the time and I get a beautiful result. Once you get your stencil placed and tacked down, your first coat should be the primary color, let it dry and then place the color you want for the stencil. The primary color seals those edges and won't let the secondary color seep through.

Love your little helper there! Johnnie (? Spelling), you make everything look so easy, but it’s not easy for me. Each piece looks amazing! I loved the muslin and lace flowers-if you ever run out of ideas for a video, maybe you could do one for us on how you do that. Presumptuous, aren’t I? Lol. Those tin-punched lamps were a good find, I’m a little envious. Not really, just teasing. Hope you are still enjoying your retirement. Thanks for sharing this video and your ideas with us. Your stenciling turned out good, so don’t give that up too quickly. Happy thanksgiving to you and yours. Looking forward to seeing you work your magic on the cardinals!
