Make Epic Fireworks & Particle Explosions with Scratch Pen Extension
Enhance your Scratch Games with Epic Explosions & Particle Effects. Send hundreds of sprites ricocheting around the screen with a Boom, and wow your friends! :) Yes, we can simulate fireworks, but also this can be used to create pro particle explosions like those in my game Appel.
We cover basic particle cloning, movement, gravity, air resistance & terminal velocity, and colour! Particle Trails, Fading Pen Trails, and yes... there's more to come - so stay tuned!!!

This tutorial was amazing and all of your tutorials are just on the next level! Keep it on and Scratch On!
Thanks griffpatch! I've always been trying to create an "explosion effect", but it always ends up not-so-good. This tutorial was really helpful!
Just wanted to say a major thank you to you Griffpatch. I started scratch and found a small interest in proggraming during lockdown and thought its probably just a phase. Now it's a lifestyle. I have moved on from scratch to python and have joined a tutoring with an amazing teacher and I'm already on a yr 11 level being a yr 7. I just want to thank you for the motivation to finally make the leap and keep scratching and I hope you make an impact on everyone who watches you . Thanks 😄

Griffpatch, I can not say how much u have helped me. You have taught me a lot on how scratch works, what to use in some situations, and a bunch of other stuff so a big big thanks to u. Also that is why I subbed to you.
This tutorial is a big game changer, rather than boring deaths you can simply do this to enhance your games. I would like to use this in my games too but my PC has not been fixed yet, but it is still a good video. Thanks Griffpatch
You read my mind griff! I have been waiting for this for months, I just couldn't work out the physics like bouncing and collisions. I was just using regular sx and sy particles. This tutorial I will be following!
This tutorial turns projects into next level.😮
super useful and super easy! It was a wonderful tutorial all right, can't wait for ep2!

Thank you griffpatch for this. I really appreciate it. Great tutorial
Amazing, I love your Scratch tutorials, even though I'm Brazilian, I can understand the tutorials. Keep posting videos, GriffPatch!
By changing the color of the new particles, it helps us see how new particles come, and old ones go. Really cool!
These are my favorite types of reusable tutorials. And just in time to celebrate the New Year!

wow thanks!
One thing worth mentioning is that a lot of times you probably want particles to be subject to air resistance, pressure expansion/contraction, and changes in opacity or brightness or both. Also potentially combining or fragmenting.
You just taught me cos and sin in just a couple of seconds. I can't believe what just happened there!
Omg thank you Griffpatch I was searching the internet for fading pen drawings
finally i understand how the pen and the for all sprite and this sprite only stuff this is really fun to watch 😄

I relly like your Scratch Tutorials they are so fun and beneficial you are makeing a great job 😍😍.
14:09 to make the trails the same colour as the sprites, change pen colour by 0.2, divided by what is the equivalent of 200 / 101. Instead of just 0.2
Perfect for video games with explosions!

This is funny! I was looking around your channel page and was binge programming (coding? or watching? guess i'd pick both!) your backpackable essentials! so this came as a surprise when it showed that a new video dropped! this I must say is lovely, you rock on dude! (by the way, could there be a certain lemon-related particle effect)?

Awesome idea :)
If you want pen color to match the particle, change the pen color by 0.1 instead of 0.2, and set it to 0 on green flag clicked (that is if for some reason you don't hide the particle sprite ig)
This is so cool! Thanks! I could use this for the platformer I’m making (using your tutorials, obv)
