I’ve seen a couple of these out there but this was the first design that was simple enough that it made me think, yeah I could do that.

Yep, that's exactly what I commented before I seen your comment. I probably will be able to do that in the morning. I've set up a computer in my shop so I can follow instructions, but this is simple enough I think I've got it already.

I like this because it's 2x4s and not cabinet grade plywood. I'm just trying to get stuff off my work bench, not spend 4 days making a finished piece of furniture.

This is exactly the type of stand I've been looking for. With prices these days who can afford a whole sheet or 3/4 4x8 ? This is way simpler and easier to build especially if you already have dimensional lumber laying around.

Very good. I especially like that it's made from cheap 2x4s. Most all the other versions I've seen require expensive plywood and are quite fussy in their details. This one wins the day, for me.

I decided to follow this instructional. I've reached the point of completing the frame. The issue I encountered was the sections with the holes. Not having a drill press meant that the holes on ne side were sloping and not level. That in turn meant that rod that will need to go through these did not align properly. As a relative novice woodworker, I decided the easiest solution was to cut a notch into the holes on one side. That now solves the problem of aligning the rod. Now I have to reinforce the notched side so that it can carry my miter saw when it is turned upside down. This is a challenging project unless appropriate tools are available. Nevertheless, I've come this far, so I'll continue.

Earned my sub! I seen a few designs like this a few years ago and have been meaning to make one as my shop is TINY (10'x 20'). Believe it or not I have a tablesaw, freud router table, rigid planer, delta jointer, a small ryobi band saw, a CNC router(with enclosure) 3D printer, laser engraver amongst SO MANY other tool in there. Although I have had to come up with some pretty unique ways of layout/storage in my shop that allows for quick(less than 1 minute) to swap out tablesaw for router table/planer etc... you can imagine my frustration in such a tiny shop....anyway, i went hunting for a video of this type and yours popped up first and I'm glad it did! Such an ingenious and SIMPLE design. I will NO DOUBT be making one of these today! Thanks for posting this! Two thumbs up!

I need to do this, but I think I would find some PVC to put into the holes where the pipe rotates so it doesn't wallow out the wood eventually, or some type of end that rotates, I think you could have a cheaper option for the bolts that lock it in place. But nice overall, I think the top was a bit overkill with the almost solid wood top, could have been 2x4 running flat with a 2x4 frame and plywood and would have been fine.

I am making one for myself but mine is going to be 30x24 and on the opposite side of where it flips I’m going to make an infeed and out feed table that folds down so I will have about a 6 foot table to work with for material

Use a jigsaw and match the profile of your router table onto the extension. Will probably save you a couple of run ins with a corner, lol!

I like your design and fact that I need the stand for same tools: planer and router table. I was surprised thought you used screws to mount the router to the platform. I might go with bolts instead. Thank you for sharing though.

Just screw fittings on to each end so that it’s too thick for the middle opening and you should be good

Best plan I've seen so far. Looks like something I can tackle. Tell me from whence did the rear casters come from.

I like this design as I planned to build mine out of cheaper 2x4’s as well but I dont understand why you doubled up the 2x4’s on each side and why the solid 2x10’s inside the table top. Seems a whole lot of overkill to me.

Of all the flip top carts I've seen on KZread, this is the simplest and strongest one I've seen. Great job. By the way, where did you get the corner fixed wheel caster you used? I checked the link on your comment for the caster wheels and it only showed the flip pedal ones. Thanks.

Great video. Nice to find one of these not made with a 3/4x4x8 sheet of plywood. With coming up on one year how is it holding up? Did you use 1/2 " plywood for the top? Thankyou for sharing this, It's 99 degrees here so I'm just taking a break from cutting up my 2x4's .

It’s holding up absolutely awesome! The other day I even stood on top of the table to reach something on my ceiling and it didn’t budge an inch. I think it was 1/2” ply yep!

I need to make this! Thx for a great tutorial! One question: your horizontal double 2x4s attach to the verticals with pocket screws, which I think means the tools’ weight is on those screws. Would it be stronger if the horizontal beams rested on the verticals or not really matter? (Novice here)

Jon good question. I prefer having the weight on those screws (and wood glue) because its a vertical force (from the weight of the machine) pushing against a perpendicular support from the horizontal screws. It would be stronger as you described, BUT only for the machine on top. Once it’s flipped over, the tool would be taking a lot of weight down and with vertical screws, I can see it start to pull out . Honestly … it would be best to do half lap joinery for this instead

Pipe is screwed to the ends, table rotates free of the pipe !

Ok, I must be doing something wrong. I can’t stop the damn thing from racking side to side. Any suggestions?

It’s hard to say without seeing it. It sounds like you might have too much wiggle room in the tolerances, so maybe the the boards built around the pipe were too far away from each other, and then the bolts used to hold the table in place from flipping around are also not tight when push it, allowing the whole thing to slide ? Are the legs strong and sturdy and not moving side to side (this would be dangerous if they were)

No racking front to back, just side to side. Idk if it’s too long, because you really don’t give measurements. Mine was approximately 30” wide

My gas pipe that I used to flip the top was 31 inches long
