Oh geez. I'm gonna have to make some actually playable metal maps now 😂 I always get furious when people do Expert + metal songs that are literally impossible to play.

tell me about it. Most songs in general are just expert + and it makes me so sad. I can mostly play expert, but expert+ most of the time is basically impossible because of how fast and congested most maps are.

@@C0ffeeGremlin right they tend to completely forsake the *beat* part of Beat Saber. Like it's no fun if I have to turn off fail states just to hit 25% of the notes in my favorite songs.

Yes! I get it a lot of people installing custom maps might want that extremely hard difficulty but there's a lot of people to just like metal music and want to play the game!

Yeah my dude!!! I have a bunch of Dragonforce songs and DreamTheatre songs I need to have mapped properly. Just cos it’s a million BPM doesn’t mean you need a million blocks people!

I checked online to see if there was a map for the Better Call Saul theme but found nothing. Guess this is my "Fine, I'll do it myself" moment.

This actually might get me to finally get off my arse and start mapping songs for my wife, thank you!!

I hope something like this comes out for Quest as well. I would love to make beat saber maps without mods. Though I still should be prepared for this to not happen. There’s a huge list of songs I would love to make a map for. I don’t care how long I have to wait, it’s a part of my bucket list from this point forward.

There's already third party mapping tools, but maybe having an official tool as part of the game will get more people into mapping. At first glance it looks simpler than the third party tools.

Ho shit - thank you! I missed this. I experimented with AI-Generated songs when that came out, and I had a decent amount of luck with it. Nothing perfect, but playing my favorite songs outweighed the small sections the AI would misjudge the flow of the song or would add blocks too close requiring superhuman speeds... From what I can see initially, this means I can easily open those old files and smooth them out - which means I won't have to fully learn the process of making an entire map all upfront. I never spent the time to figure out the 3rd party mapping software, and though it looks very similar to this, it seemed less accessible without spending the time to learn it first. That and I didn't see an easy way to open existing map files to edit.

Is it possible to get this editor on your oculus quest if you connect it to your computer? I’ve been asking around everywhere and no one’s given me a thorough answer.

I do have a quest 2, is there a way to make levels? Or do I have to buy beatsaber for PC and make them there and download them to My quest via sideload then?

This editor looks very nice but I have one problem. I play on a quest 2 but I do like mapping and playing custom songs so I wish the program was separate from the actual game so I don’t have to buy the game on pc just to never play it. It seems unnecessary to put the mapper in the actual pc game I wish they would’ve just made it a separate program you could download

Yeah! Honestly it makes more sense for it to be a separate app avaliable for a couple of platforms (with PC being the primary one). I haven't modded my Quest in a while and the only way I can create my own custom maps is via Beatmapper (online browser version) which is not the most up-to-date custom level editor.

I ended up paying $30 again for the PC version. For the increased flexibility you get, it's worth it. Yeah, a cable is highly recommended. Wireless isn't quite reliable.

I hope for an editor that works like this: The game detects the bpm and type of song, like the auto generated songs. You then play the song and cut imaginary blocks in half. The game generates blocks on the beat based on your movements. And that would be the starting point for your map!

I googled for "BPM finder" and Found Tunebeat. Very handy. I even did not have to upload a song for analysis, i could simply search for it in their database. There you get the bpm and even the melodic key and for DJs recommendations with what songs it would blend bpm and key wise. Really cool stuff!

Oh wow, didnt realize it was going to be quite so clunky and involved. I figured since they had a custom option on the main menu it would just let you play a song and set custom block locations wherever. Figuring out bpm and then calculating/having it line up with the exact amount of blocks you want for a section sounds pretty daunting. It looks doable definitely, but man Its reminding me of like learning a completely new design software. I'm definitely gonna give it a shot though. I cant stand how like 95 percent of all custom maps are random anime songs or bubblegum pop crap. And then I finally find a song I want from like rammstein and its only mapped in expert+ 400 bpm songs that are damn near impossible. Theres a definite lack of like more underground metal or hip hop songs. Would love to map out some dope dod, twiztid, unleashed, bloodbath, mushroomhead, slipknot, icp.
