Art is for the fearless. My entire life I didnt pursue art & didn’t respect artists because somehow I got it into my head that artists are ungrateful (they pursue their passion and that makes them ungrateful instead of those that work hard to get “practical” jobs). I worked hard at the practical things - A’s in school, take classes because it looks good for college, all of that. I lived a miserable 30 years & ended up a total loser working passionless minimum wage jobs. I didnt have skills because I was passionless about everything I’d ever done. Now I’m going for art. I’m more terrified than I’ve ever been in my life. I could end up homeless. What about a.i.? what if I’m not good enough? Art is for the fearless because to become an artist - to be able to shut those scared voices up just to learn, you’ve gotta be fearless.

I’ve been working hard at my “practical” jobs since my teens, and throughout the years I’ve been slowly cultivating my craft in drawing and building up confidence that I’ve never had to begin with in sharing my art online with others and opening myself up to everyone, I chose to become more “selfish” and tend to my creativity in hopes that it could someday become something I could make my own career out of. I really had to start from the ground up. Following my passions may seem selfish to some people if you think about it like that. But the position I’m in, what do I have to lose in trying? Other than just keeping things steady at my regular job… forever… I want to thrive in a creative career, and I have to believe that that’s possible for myself. I have to cheer myself on, and honestly it’s not easy. And don’t even get me started on the process of successfully running your own business as an independent artist!!! IT AINT EASY!!!! I hope you’ve moved past that mindset and are now following your passions

After watching a bunch of these. I feel like you'd be perfect at writing a children's show that delves into these sorts of perspective shifts. You allow yourself to be playful and fun while overcoming some pretty heavy negative self talk and self destructive patterns that a lot of people, especially artists/creators experience. In a way you already do it here and it's a great way to deliver a message. Thank you for being a positive voice in my brain.

I was literally just outside watering the garden and thinking that I need to flip my life around; that, instead of being constantly depressed from now knowing how to do things that need to be done the official way, that I need to become childlike and curious and just play around. There are a million ways to do the same thing and achieve a result that is satisfactory but that doesn't fit into the mold of "correct" or "by code". Just start doing things to see what I can figure out, like a child again. Then I came indoors, turned on my computer, and this video popped up. Thank you, Life.

Wow. This video inspired me. For a long time now I haven‘t been drawing due to stress and everytime I try my brain just shuts off and pictures of perfect instagram artists pop up as well as the thought of what I‘m gonna create will be seen by people. I‘ve been restricting my thoughts and creativity in every way but then asking myself why I dont like creating. But as I watched this video I felt like a child with a free mind again. I really felt my heart pumping. I felt a smile across my face waiting to laugh out loud. This feeling is what I’ve been searching for when drawing.

Mr. G. Prophett: your approach to art and life is keeping me going. I'm making a lot of ugly art these days and sometimes I'm curious and sometimes I'm resentful and sometimes I'm scared and sometimes I'm indifferent to what I'm making. BUT I JUST KEEP GOING ANYWAY. Because you never know what's gonna happen. It's gonna be interesting no matter what I do. Maybe I'll learn something. Maybe I'll forget I ever did it (more likely). But with every painting, a certain freedom and confidence is growing in my chest like a delicate baby bird. And I thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me foster that little spark.
