I've watched a lot of woodworking videos about these stools besides Paul sellers yours has been the most informative and helpful. Paul's is great but for someone with limited time the fact the you told what all the types of tools you could possibly use to achieve each task is what makes yours the best. Instead of gather information on what tool I should use from my arsenal from all the videos was able to figure it all out from this one.

Regarding why the pencil compass trick works, you've effectively made a hexagon with the points you land on with the compass, and marking 3 points of the hexagon provides you with the equidistance. The compass is set to the radius of the circle and, by the basic laws of geometry, the length of each side of a hexagon within a circle is the radius of that circle. Hope that makes sense.

The contrast really stands out doesn’t it!

Surely the legs should be splayed out, typically as far as the edge of the seat in plan for stability? Also, as the wedges for the legs are a different wood, they will make a pattern, which for me ought to be either radial from the centre of the seat or following the circumference, this require no special skill just an attention to detail.

I've made them with both straight legs and splayed out legs, to be honest I haven't noticed any real difference but as I only use them for display/plant stands - although maybe that's why. I definitely agree that if I was using it for more of a functional purpose the legs being splayed out would be more important. Thanks very much for the comment!

Great video looks wicked. On the tool front i hate my Jigsaw never managed get it other than for rough break down. Ive actually just picked up lidals plunge router its not bad to be fair comes with bits aswell. Also think its irwin do some amazing auger bits pretty good price think like 20 quid. May have to give this a shot aee if a can sell it. Having issues selling stuff. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿👍😕
