Make a "Pop Stars" Quilt with Jenny Doan of Missouri Star (Video Tutorial)

Jenny demonstrates how to make a beautiful Pop Stars quilt using 10 inch squares of precut fabric (layer cakes). For this project Jenny chose "A Little Bit of Sparkle" 10" Stackers by Zoe Pearn for Riley Blake Designs. This pretty star quilt comes together quickly, and as you trim your blocks, the scrap pieces can be used to make a beautiful triangle border!

I usually like your quilt patterns, but this one I absolutely love. I love that when you "snowball" the corners, you are able to use part of it in the border. I must confess, every time I see you snowball corners and discard the cut off triangle portions, I always cringe, and I love that this time you are able to use them as part of the border, and they really work with the design of the quilt. I also love the use of black in most of the stars, and then using the white on the darker blocks really adds such an element of interest that makes the whole quilt sing. Just really really clever.

I made this crib quilt for my 4th Great-Grandchild - a little girl. Also made a bunch of bibs from the leftovers. I just made it with fewer blocks - 3 across and 4 down. My "pop" stars ended up in the upper left and lower right corners, and balanced out nicely. I used flange binding, and added some embroidered cotton trim. I think it came out just fine! It was easy to do, and I enjoyed the process.

I’ve been sewing for 55 yrs not a problem but could be for someone who is just starting out. All in all a very beautiful pattern from Jenny and MSQC. Thank you.
