Best hobby ever! As long as you got started that’s all that matters
Excellent…what a great idea to use a kit in order to dip your toe into the world of beer making. Essentially you’re helping all the people who’ll be getting a beer kit this holiday season…..All they have to do is zhuzz it up.

Hahah for sure! Just a little TLC can make it not bad!
I skipped extracts entirely, went feet first into all grain. I learned quickly why extract brewing is so popular, all grain can be a headache, but I'm glad I did it anyway. All my troubles taught me a lot VERY quickly.
Big thanks to you for this video! I did this and loved it. Now I'm obsessed with brewing.
We need more of these collabs! Good job Trent!

Thanks so much! It was a lot of fun to work with CH and get his thoughts and see how he works. Will definitely be down to do another collab again!
Started brewing several months ago, I've done 4 Brewers Best 5 gal kits, all turned out good, I've got two 5 gallon all grain batches in various stages, (inspired by Brusho's "beginner's guide to BIAB" video - a wheat with cherry extract added on secondary fermentation (bottled yesterday) and a light pilsner with flaked corn filler inspired by Brusho's how to brew American Light lager (brewed yesterday) excited to taste my first beer without training wheels! For my experience, this is the most relevant video for me, I'm a very new brewer, only been brewing for 6 months but have brewed a lot and learnt so much. This video is what I have been doing adding kveik yeast as my house is pretty warm, hops for better flavour and speciality grains for mouth feel. Awesome video guys

Great video! The Mr. Beer partial mash recipes are pretty good. Do a video on one of them next and you might be surprised🍻
Seriously though, sometimes I see geese flying one way, then 10 minutes later they're flying back the other way. It's amazing they can travel so far when they seem to forget which way to go all the time.
I’ve started brewing 6 months ago and I’ve been using extract kits from Northern Brewer. Even though it’s extract kits I’ve been making, it still tastes better than any other beer I’ve had!

My first beer was "The Beer Machine 2000" which looks like a slightly fancier version of that Mr. Beer kit. I found it in my dad's garage, only catch is it expired 8 years before that. I still did it and the beer I made ended up pretty much undrinkable. But it was enough to spark my interest in brewing. I was scared to try making beer again for a while so I made some mead and ciders, then got back into beermaking. Not sure I know where this will end since continuously upgrading equipment is so addictive. Already making mead, cider, beer, moonshine and gin.

question Trent, what are some things I could add to porter bet kit to raise abv and add taste?
@TheBruSho
2 жыл бұрын
Kind of depends on what kit you have. Easy way to up ABV is dry malt extract. And for flavor you can get more unique, deep flavors from specialty grains. Just experiment and make note for next time you brew!
Now you can get extract most anywhere and do not need Mr. beer brand, but the kit is great for just starting out .
I've used Citra and find it quite bitter and overpowering for something that light. I'd go with Saaz to start or Willamette.

Extract beer can always be made better with good hops and yeast. Gone are the days I used to raid my wife's baking cupboard. Extract brewer since 1995.

What adapter did you use from the keg spout to your wand?
@TheBruSho
2 жыл бұрын
Just a small piece of tubing. I forget the inner diameter but just the stock stuff they give you at a Homebrew store
I kind of miss doing extract beers. Haven't done one in many years. My first beers were partial boil extract beer kits, fermented in the closet at 80+ degrees. Mmmmm fussel alcohols and diacetyl.... a watched pot never boils but the second you step away it boils over every time lol

I was wondering if you could transfer a Mr. Brew kit to a wooden barrel for 2nd fermentation/dispensing, instead of a keg or bottles?

Just a thought, Mr.Beer discourages boiling HME as it can create off flavors.
how about raw sugar instead of refined white sugar?
So I noticed you didn't wait that long to bottle. Should I be looking to bottle after 4-5 days with the way you are making the beer? the package came with 5g of yeast, I did 5.5g of the kvike
@TheBruSho

Depends on if your brew is done fermenting. Kveik can ferment warm and quickly so that’s why the 4-5 days worked for me. Just be sure it’s completely done fermenting before moving on to bottling.
