As a learning experience it's pretty nice but I think it's scummy from multi million dollar companies like Lego to effectively get a promotional game for a couple of hundred bucks (let's be real shipping is probably more than the production cost of these sets).

I get your argument but this is a 1 month contest where you build something on top of a Microgame, it's not like they're asking you to spend years of your life making a completely original game for a couple hundred bucks, if that were the case that would definitely be terrible. Like you said it's a great learning experience and as a bonus you have the chance to win a pretty unique reward.

You're making a simple "game" inside of Unity, true: but you're given every tool to make a cool idea in 2 or 3 days. It's just like Roblox taking a big cut while giving you servers and an ultra-simple tool to make your minigame (plus free advertising)

Anyone know if the lego bricks can work for some sort of simple destruction system? I checked it out a while back but it seemed like you can only destroy an entire structure (like in 3:38 for example), instead of say only the parts that were actually hit.

Hey guys I really want to ask a question about the game development career in my case all I know is what I learned from online tutorials and courses,am able to start studying software development in general and that's what I really want to do But is that really worth it ?? I mean a lot of people in my area saying that this is just a waste of time And my plan for the future is to get a job in Canada or Germany or any other European country actually .. If u reading this thanks for your time

Why exactly are those people saying it's a waste of time? Game development is a career like any other. Especially in Canada there's tons of studios there.

@@ali3bed1 Where do you want your grappling hooks to lauch? To the center? To the left? To the right? Assuming you want to shoot 1 to the left and 1 to the right, you just need to add a little angle to one of the raycast from the center, and add a different one to the other raycast. For example, you have the point where your Camera.main is looking. Then, to find the point to the left and a point to the right, you do: Point1 = Camera.main.position + (3,0,0) Point2 = Camera.main.position - (3,0,0) You now have 2 different point and you can do 2 vectors and use a raycast for each one . (This was pseudo-code, not the exact code) I think you should look a little bit more on raycasts and stuff before attempting to do complexer things. Try to understand the core tools that are being used in a tutorial, and once you understand them, you are then ready to finish a tutorial and then modify it with your personal touch
