Yes, when you don't use the word 'local' you're creating a variable with a global scope. This takes up a small amount of memory as you're storing things for later unnecessarily

Depends of the code block that you're currently working in. But local is recommended for any new variable anyways

Cast rays from the sky (refer to GnomeCode's tutorial on RayCasting) and have them damage the humanoids hit. Furthermore, if it's a small area, you could even use a grid of equal parts as casters.
