I found I didn't have a hex key socket to remove the front wheel, so I made one.

Good job. In reality, these utensils are cheaper to buy directly. But the satisfaction of having built it with your own hands is priceless. Congratulations.

I just use an M10 sleeve nut - they are about 40mm long and 17mm across the flats so fit straight into a 17mm socket, ring or open-ender - both of which are in the standard toolkit. Cost about a quid, light in weight, easily fit in standard toolbag, and easily replaced if you lose it!
