I know that this is old, but for spigot/paper you literally just make a plugins folder and drop the zips in there, then restart to add plugins

You need to make sure that you are running forge server files, not vanilla/paper. After that it should be pretty straightforward by fallowing most guides, navigate/create a mods folder and download them to there.

When I go to create the instance, It says I will get charged for the boot volume Shape R$0.00/month Boot volume R$10.00/month Estimated total R$10.00/month

Thanks for watching! And yes! You can add a data pack into the world folder (or do anything else file related). You can use wget to download something via a link just like I did in the video to download the server files

If the link is showing up as a file you can do “rm ” or if it’s a folder also include a -r like “rn -r ” . To add from your local machine you can use scp with your private key from another terminal window (lmk if you need more explanation on that one)

Hey i don't trust oracle what else could i use as a substitute for oracle?

how do you backup the server?

anyonw know how to add spigot plugins?

I am wondering if there is a way to use a GUI thing? It would use more resources but it would make the setup a lot easier and faster especially if someone would wants to use bungeecord or waterfall.

I don’t *think* you can use a GUI interface as this system is really meant for ssh, but you could definitely install other terminal based applications! You could certainly install forge and do a modded sever

I won’t be able to make a video for a few days, but in the meantime try using this for learning how to use the private key: wiki.filezilla-project.org/Howto The host should be the public ip address (same one you use to connect to the sever in-game), the user should be opc, and the port should be 22

I haven’t tried it, but if there is Linux support for it then ~theoretically~ you should be able to use it

it's exactly as it says, the only way to fix it is to either upgrade to a pay as you go account which skips the waitlist or get lucky when you click create (or you could leave a macro on for a while). there is one more option but that requires more techinical skill. the pay as you go account WILL take 100$ but oracle refunds it so beware of that.

When you SSH into the server you would navigate to your minecraft server folder, and run the command 'sudo nano server.properties' I think

is sftp supported? like for example if i want to upload a large number of mods, or edit the config files. Also do minecraft command in the console run just like normal, if I want to op myself?

I haven’t tried sftp myself, but I don’t see why you couldn’t do something like that. And yes commands work normally so you can op yourself or anything else you want to do!

Glad to hear that it works! You *should* be able to just delete the world folder in the terminal (make sure you stop the server first). When you start it again it *should* generate a new world folder

Can you please tell few things. 1. Will it run on tlauncher. if no, then how to mod that server) 2. How to add plugins. 3. Where we can find server properties and other files. 4. Should we need to upgrade java and/or minecraft on every time new released. 5. How to backup our world. 6. What is the support email id of Oracle where we can ask for help. 7. So I was just doing that exact project and i had trouble copying my world to the VM via windows. Only thing I can tell you is the scp command has worked fine using the private key of your VM instance.

minehut has a free teir, and there is always the option of hosting your own server as long as your computer is good enough to run the server and the game at the same time. If you do go the self hosted root, I would recommend setting up a virtual machine for it and not running directly on your pc.

sadly, seems like the Ampere has no images compatible with it anymore. at least from when i tried a few days ago

@@LazyTech825 unfortunately it's just down to Oracle not allocating enough space to this free tier, there are a few scripts that you can find in Reddit posts about people talking about the same issue, you basically just have to leave one of those things running and hope you get lucky

You can edit the file “server.properties” where it says “level-name=world”! Instead of world you can change it to be whatever name you want

Everything was fine, until the first two weeks finished, then they close the instance, when I contacted support, they said the system deleted my instances and blocked the account and they cannot do anything to change that

Yep! If you use the same settings I do, it will keep you in the free tier! They offer trials for some other paid features, but everything in this tutorial should remain free :)

I have jdk 21.0.2 and I follow everything to the letter but when I type java --version I get an error message. -bash: /home/opc/jdk-21.0.2/bin/java: cannot execute binary file: Exec format error. I don't know what to do.

Hi, I was having this same issue. You may have figured it out by now, but I solved this issue by downloading the x64 Compressed Archive rather than the ARM64 Compressed Archive. I ran through the process of extracting and modifying the .bashrc file again and it worked.

Is it true that they have stopped doing the forever free server and that is now on a 30 days trial like AWS?

make sure that you are installing the forge server files instead of vanilla/paper. After that it should be pretty straightforward to navigate to mods folder and wget the mods you want, or pushing the files through ssh from your PC.

I've heard that they reset your VM after like a month or so? Is that true? I don't want that to happen to my MC server if that's the case. And, I've been trying to sign up but their sign up process is so hard because an error keeps popping up when I click "Start New Trial" which is something like "Error processing transactions" even when all the info is right. Could ya please help out?

I haven't had any problems with my VM resetting. That login error is strange! If it is still happening I would reccommend emailing oracle and see if they can help

Oracle may reclaim servers that are not in use, though I'm pretty sure an idle Minecraft server should suffice as a sufficient load to meet their criteria. They have them somewhere on their website

Thanks for the suggestion, I just have one problem... everyone actually took up the Ampere shape so now Oracle is saying it's unavailable and I have to try again later or on a different availability domain lol. Looks like I gotta play the waiting game now..

@@mianreplicate yeah it's super hard to get Ampere VM setup on most domains, you'll need to get one of the scripts and run that for a couple days and you might get lucky

If for some reason you can’t get the plug-in working, you could try writing a bash or python script to run the server start command on a schedule
